The Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), a Harvard affiliate, is looking for exceptional candidates to join the research group of Dr. Raymond Chung in the Liver Center in the GI Division. The successful candidate will join a research program focused on liver biology and immunology, pathogenesis, and therapeutic targets of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Knowledge gained through this research program will provide insights into the pathogenesis of NAFLD and identify possible therapeutic targets.

This Postdoctoral Research Fellow position offers the opportunity to work directly with a team of Principal Investigators and co-Investigators in the Liver Center at MGH. Candidates motivated to study liver biology, liver immunology, and with experiences in animal work, in mammalian and primary cell culture, molecular biology, cell biology, and flow cytometry are encouraged to apply.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Apply creative thinking and scientific expertise for leading projects.
  • Conceptualize and design experiments.
  • Organize and conduct in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro studies independently.
  • Design experiments, collect and interpret data.
  • Build and facilitate collaborations.
  • Present research findings in the lab meetings and at scientific meetings.
  • Ensure that all research/discovery work is conducted with highest quality and ethical guidelines.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • PhD or MD degree and have less than five years of postdoctoral experience.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience and/or interest in liver biology, metabolism, inflammation, and pathogenesis of NAFLD.
  • Strong expertise in molecular biology techniques, biochemical assays, cell culture experiences, and animal handling
  • A high level of motivation and independence with the ability to think critically
