Research Fellow in Surgical Functional Recovery

Paralysis Center at Massachusetts General Hospital, Department of Neurosurgery

The Paralysis Center is seeking an enthusiastic, self-driven research postdoctoral fellow eager to gain expertise and advance their career in clinical research field in a fast paced, multidisciplinary clinical research environment. Candidate will receive strong project and career mentorship from faculty at the Center. The successful candidate will join clinical research projects targeted to help people with paralyzing conditions (stroke, spinal cord injury, nerve injuries) and include multimodal quantitative neuroimaging and neurophysiology.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in neurophysiology and assessments of arm and hand function. Proficiency in programming and imaging analyses strongly desired and a background in Matlab programming would be helpful.

Candidate will work in a highly collaborative group interacting with several clinical and neurophysiology leaders across several departments and hospital systems. The post-doctoral fellows are expected to develop new ideas, engage in scholarly activities and advance their own research interests.

Qualifications
Qualifications:

  • PhD in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, computer science, or related fields
  • More than 1 year of experience
  • Very good programming skills in Matlab, Linux, Python or related languages.
  • Prior experience in neurophysiology is strongly desired, and interest in multi-modal imaging will be an advantage
  • Track record of scientific publications and eagerness to lead scholarly manuscript writing
  • Motivated to solve problems to overcome technical challenges and work as a team
  • Candidates that can work independently and as part of large inter-disciplinary teams
  • Must be highly motivated, collaborative, self-driven and well-organized, personable, and empathetic both with research participants and fellow workers.
