The Field Sales Director is responsible for delivering the right revenues, whether that is defined as a hard number, growth target, profit target and/or a market share goal or a mix of goals. In addition, and just as important, the Field Sales Director is responsible for recruiting qualified sales personnel, building an effective sales team, building the sales strategy and devising sales tactics for the area of responsibility. Develop sales goals for sales personnel so that the total of all sales goals is equal to or greater than the total area goals. Direct and monitor sales activities so that goals are achieved.

  • Create a culture of success and ongoing business and goal achievement
  • Manage sales teams and resources to deliver profitable growth
  • Manage budgets
  • Align optimal sales force structure
  • Hire and develop sales staff
  • Help make the Company an employer of choice and a sales force that top sales people want to join
  • Define and oversee sales staff compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets
  • Define and coordinate sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives
  • Manage customer expectations and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Direct sales processes that drive desired sales outcomes and identify improvements where and when required
  • Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting
  • Compile information and data related to customer and prospect interactions
  • Monitor customer, market and competitor activity and provide feedback to sales management
  • Work with Marketing and other Company organizations to maximize sales synergy
  • Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities
  • Travel for in-person meetings with customers and partners and to develop key relationships
  • Successful experience building a go-to-market strategy and sales plans
  • Successful experience selling software and related products and services
  • Successful experience closing large deals
  • Successful experience monitoring and evaluating sales rep progress against stated expectations, in addition to aligning and changing behavior with performance expectations
  • Successful experience managing sales teams comprised of professional salespeople
  • Experience managing key customer relationships and closing strategic opportunities
  • Successful experience utilizing a CRM to manage team sales tasks, pipeline, and closing data
  • Successful experience hiring and onboarding sales representatives
  • Successful experience building and managing a territories
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution
  • Experience in examining and re-engineering processes and procedures, formulating policy recommendations, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
  • Proven experience working within a medium to large company environment
  • Experience providing status reports with market and customer feedback to the corporate leadership team
  • Demonstrated ability in all aspects of sales leadership
  • Must be able to travel at times throughout the year
