The Regional IT Director position will collaborate with regional and agency level business stakeholders to gather, document and execute on the IT related components of business projects (new development, applications, and functionality.) The position will also work with acquisition targets or acquired agencies to better understand their existing environment and work with the regional technology leadership and key stakeholders to integrate into Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA) environment as needed.

This position will liaise between regional, Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA) Information Technology (IT) and MMC Tech to transfer an adequate level of knowledge, ensuring a successful implementation of the global standardized infrastructure and coordinating/managing each step within the project life cycle. They will collaborate with the regional leadership to plan, execute and ensure successful implementation of key IT projects and initiatives as well as providing on-going support of MMA/MMC Tech products and services. Essential functions include:

  • Overseeing regional technology operations and team members, and evaluating performance according to established goals
  • Devising and establishing regional IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by corporate or regional leadership
  • Partnering with regional leadership to understand the business requirements of all operating units in order to determine technology challenges, needs and initiatives
  • Collaboration with regional and national technology leaders regarding information technology strategies, policies, and procedures and corporate initiatives; evaluating trends and anticipating regional challenges and needs
  • Technical advisor on regional IT real estate projects and acquisitions
  • Provides recommendations and oversight to regional leadership regarding annual IT budget and reviews all IT invoices and expenditures
  • Builds consultative relationships with senior business leaders, MMA colleagues, vendors, and MMC Tech colleagues
  • Maintaining and improving organization's effectiveness and efficiency by delivering, and supporting strategic plans for information technologies
  • Ensures that all regional technologies meet the necessary IT Compliance standards set forth by MMA
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Primary point of contact for agency and regional personnel providing direct leadership for all IT initiatives, functionality, applications, integration, and system development.
  • Management and oversight of regional IT team, and all internal and external vendor partners
  • Coordination with MMA IT and MMC Tech in managing the development, implementation, and execution of the provision of IT infrastructure and application tools and services across the region.
  • Manage proper documentation of regional IT processes, projects, as well as the MMC Tech directives.
  • Perform technical work, when needed and serve as the regions technical expert.
  • Liaise with MMC Tech resources / subject matter experts creating a structured process to include due diligence, user support processes, requirements documentation, and project management
  • Balance the MMC Tech standard processes with the regional MMA operational need for flexibility.
  • Discovery and documentation of agency environments in potential acquisitions.
  • Coordinate between MMA and MMC Tech on security, transactional platforms and requirements for other business critical systems during the acquisition process.
  • Maintains staff by providing recommendations regarding recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees; develops personal growth development plans for team.
  • Accomplishes team results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising; coaching, counseling and providing corrective guidelines; developing coordinating and following policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educations workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing and maintaining relevant industry relationships; benchmarking best in class practices and serving as a resource throughout MMA/MMC Tech.

Job Scope

Communicates and interacts with all levels of management, employees and external customers concerning IT issues, processes, and technology. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills; take initiative; be solution focused; and be a change agent for the organization. Functional responsibilities require thorough knowledge of IT processes, information technology and systems, IT infrastructure planning and implementation.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related field or equivalent 5-7 years of IT industry experience

Experience
  • 5-7 years of IT industry experience preferred with 3-5 years demonstrated progressive IT leadership
  • Broad knowledge of networking, servers, business applications, data and desktop components
  • Experience in maintaining information technology budget
  • Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications
  • Solid understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • PMP certification preferred or ability to acquire; strong project management skills required
  • Excellent listening, written and verbal communication
  • Must be detailed with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work with agency, vendor, or other personnel to understand and document processes related to the implementation or use of the MMA agency management systems
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects while ensuring timely and accurate agency deliverables with effective problem solving and resolution skills
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with MGTI, agency management, agency IT and peers
  • Demonstrated competency and experience with business applications and infrastructure

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extensive periods of time. The employee is frequently required to use full range of body motion, including handling and lifting up to25 pounds, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. This role requires vision and hearing corrected within normal range and the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. The employee is occasionally required to stand,walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Employee typically performs the majority of their work from their desk,and is required to use a computer andtelephone.Regular typing and word processing is required.

Work Environment

Frequent travel to various locations is highly essential and regularly required of this position. Exposure to environmental elements occurs on a regular basis. Must have valid transportation. When not traveling, work is generally performed in a quiet office environment.
