The Seacoast Cancer Center at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital provides the most comprehensive program of medical and radiation oncology in the Seacoast of NH and Southern Maine. Our services include diagnostic testing, chemotherapy services, radiotherapy services, clinical trials and a full complement of support services designed to meet the specials needs of our patients and families.

We have a per diem job opportunity for a Radiation Therapist. Responsibilities include:

1. Overall patient care
a. Utilizes patient photo ID and confirms patients full name, date of birth and site we are treating to correctly identify patients. Completes EMR Time Out Assessment.
b. Transports patients properly and comfortably, keeping in mind the different needs of individual patients.
c. Maintains visual and audible communication with patient during treatment.
d. Reinforces recommendations given to patients by physicians, nurses, dietary etc.
e. Notifies patient and appropriate staff when diagnostic, lab or planning studies are needed.
f. Assures a calm and supportive environment for patients and their family members.
2. Mosaiq
a. Maintains up-to-date schedule.
b. Compares Mosaiq EMR data to the treatment plan and reports any discrepancies to Chief Therapist or physicist.
c. Schedules patient for all appts and indicates proper status and charge code.
d. Creates treatment calendar.
e. Accurately bills patients for daily treatments and other procedures.
3. Delivers Radiation Prescriptions
a. Reviews EMR treatment chart, treatment plan, DRR'S, and blocks/MLC's prior to first treatment.
b. Delivers prescribed planned course of radiation therapy accurately.
c. Records patient treatment in Mosaiq
d. Images patient according to departmental policy.
e. Follows through on any port film adjustments made by physician and records them in set up instructions.
f. Verifies TSD's or uses image guidance to verify patient set up.
4. Simulation Rotation
a. Rotates through the simulator on a regular basis.
b. Completes CT simulation s independently under the guidance of a physician.
c. Tattoos patient for treatment setup.
d. Verifies necessary images are in the EMR.
e. Anticipates and makes use of immobilization devices.
f. Follows physician's prescription and direction.
g. Associates and labels simulation films using accurate and appropriate information.
h. Schedules appointments and explains upcoming appointments to patients and family members.
i. Coordinates with other disciplines (e.g., Dosimetry, Physics, Care Van, Nurses), as needed.
j. Evaluates physician's prescription for completeness.
k. Complete EMR setup instructions with accurate and appropriate information including special instructions, when required. l. Can take images with C-arm and export them to Mosaiq.
m. Reviews sim order for completeness, verifies consent signed, dated and timed by patient and doctor. Scan consent and sim order into the EMR.
n. Manage QCL items.
o. Fabricate electron cutouts and poured blocks. Scan electron template into the EMR.
p. Able to use RPM software and complete a breath old sim.
q. Keeps CT room stocked with appropriate supplies
5. Student rotations
a. Provides a calm and supportive environment for learning.
b. Orients students to department set-up and structure.
c. Explains major parts of the EMR.
d. Monitors students during in-room set-up.
e. Monitors students at the treatment console.
f. Instructs students on portal imaging and evaluation.
g. Provides instruction and guidance.
h. Observe and evaluate for competencies.
i. Complete necessary evaluations
6. General RTT Duties
a. Takes port films using beamview, sends images to viewstation and associates correctly.
b. Takes portfilms use Kodak CR system, sends images to viewstation and associates correctly.
c. Takes call on a rotating basis for weekend and holiday coverage under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist.
d. Ensures routine cleaning and preventative maintenance for continued functioning of equipment.
e. Responsible for quality control in assigned area.
f. Exercises care in the use and operation of equipment.
g. Keeps rooms stocked with appropriate supplies.
h. Delivers PBI treatment
i. Delivers Vaginal Cylinder treatment
j. Delivers SRS/SBRT Treatment
k. Utilizes RPM gating for Breath hold treatment

Experience Minimum Required
Graduate of an approved ARRT Radiation Therapy Program. Registry eligible
