Brief Role Description

The primary responsibility of the Quality Tech is to ensure the delivery of each individual customer•s expectations are met for all products and services provided by the facility. The Quality Tech must understand the customer and product deliverables, internal processes and accountabilities to allow for these expectations to be consistently met. The Quality Tech must perform in-process inspections and perform all job duties and functions following strict adherence to established, company implemented safety behaviors, processes, and procedures. The Quality Tech must understand the quality related work throughout all departments that will drive the continuous improvement of our systems and processes. (QPTZ) Most importantly, the Quality Tech must understand the overall performance of the local quality system, the gaps and challenges, and strategic actions that will drive improvements.

Areas of Accountability

  • Manage internal & external quality Issues
    • Understand Quality/Case Alerts and be able to relay information to Production Personnel
    • Work collaboratively with Quality Manager in performing any additional testing needed during investigations.
    • Understand the decisions made on the deposition of non-conforming product and drive those decisions.
    • Identify and address any product defects that arise during production run and Send Hold and Quality Alerts as soon as issues arise. Send updates once new information is available.
    • Work with Quality Manager to maintain Sample Racks fully stocked.
  • Follow the Rehrig•s core values in developing own skills.
    • Work with Quality Manager in developing growth plan to advance skills and ability to better service our customers.

  • Understand quality metrics and strategic targets and actions.
  • Attend Quality Meetings and understand targets, quality metrics, and quarterly Quality Plan to Zero
  • Support new product development projects launched within the facility to ensure customer expectations identified in the innovation process are protected after commercialization.
    • Understand and adhere to Quality Plans and accompanying documents and accountabilities.
  • Ensure all finished goods meet customer and internally defined expectations.
  • Perform quality checks every 4 hours and in process visual checks as needed.
  • Ensure that production forms are filled out
  • Follow production schedule to ensure customer orders are met
    • Perform gage R&R•s with Quality Supervisor on in-process inspection improvements and adhere to any changes made.
    • Send Quality Alerts when components are in non-conformance. Send Hold Alerts when Heat Transfer Labels are in non-conformance.
  • Meet all Food Safety Requirements.

General Responsibilities

Skills & Knowledge:
  • Experience in fast-paced, production-based warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with Inspection hand tools, such as, calipers, micrometers, and check fixtures.
  • Solid understanding of quality inspection, quality system principles, and process evaluation techniques.

Job Requirements:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or comparable work-related experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced, production-based manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Effective written, verbal, and email communication skills.
  • Must be able to understand and perform basic math functions.
  • Able to correctly read dials, gauges, and mechanical indicators, and take appropriate action, to ensure equipment is working properly.
  • Computer literate with MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, and web-based programs preferred.
  • Ability to perform and complete complex tests, tasks, and functions using various instruments and equipment.
  • Hands-on position:
    • Ability to effectively perform a job requiring consistent, standing and walking, repetitive motion, bending, twisting, and lifting.
    • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds consistently throughout the duration of the shift.
  • Mandatory overtime may be occasionally required
