QUALITY SUPERVISOR

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Coordinate with operational, front line employees and leadership to ensure the Quality department is providing the support and resources needed to assure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) and regulatory requirements. Identify areas of improvement within Operational Quality using key performance indicators, customer, and regulatory feedback to ensure enhanced compliance to regulatory and customer standards. Aid Quality Systems Manager in training, coaching, motivating, and developing plant teams in areas of Quality Improvement, Quality Policy, Measurement and Analysis, Quality Metrics, Customer Satisfaction, Risk Based Thinking, and Quality Systems/ISO requirements. Initiate, coordinate, and oversee non-conforming material, pest management, deviation, incoming testing and release, and in-process/finished product release activities. Provide guidance, support, and developmental opportunities to direct reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following. Other duties as assigned.

  • Actively manage daily Quality support activities defined within the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Support Operations by coordinating product testing and release activities.
  • Coordinate and evaluate investigational activities for process and product non-conformities.
  • Monitor performance of Operational Quality using key performance indicators related to non-conforming materials, identified root causes, and customer/regulatory feedback.
  • Develop and coordinate continuous improvement projects with Quality Systems Manager to prevent recurrence of systemic issues and to provide enhanced customer and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate incoming, in-process, and finished product release testing.
  • Initiate, investigate, and dispose of non-conforming material.
  • Initiate and manage in-process deviations.
  • Coordinate pest management activities for area of responsibility.
  • Develop communication and training plans for Quality Awareness/Engagement.
  • Engage employees and solicit feedback during daily operations to encourage employee engagement and ownership of areas and Quality culture
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Develop SMART goals and objectives annually for direct reports.
  • Engage employees at regular intervals to ensure active feedback is solicited and provided to employees on performance and development. Identify and provide developmental opportunities to direct reports.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • Associate degree in Science, Engineering, or Business with 5 – 10 years industry experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or Business preferred with 3 – 5 years industry experience
  • 1-3 Years Supervisory Experience
  • 3-5 Years’ experience in Med Device, Pharma, Food Industry (Quality area preferred)

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES
  • Quality Certifications, i.e., ASQ CQM/OE or CQA preferred

KNOWLEDGE – SKILLS – ABILITIES
  • Problem Solving – identify, define problems; develop solutions.
  • Working knowledge of Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, or Food Quality Systems industries
  • Continuous Improvement – ability to drive the improvement of processes and systems, and implement programs that will have continuing long-term benefits. Ability to develop plans, schedules, and budgets for projects to improve existing processes.
  • Ability to work within and supervise a cross-functional team.
  • Working knowledge of Total Quality Management Principles (TQM).

Physical– Mental - Environmental Conditions

Frequently: Communicates orally, uses reasoning and analyzes.

Regularly: Sits, Stands, Walks, Handles Objects, Uses Fine Finger Movements, Writes, Makes Visual Distinctions, works around moving machinery; works in an office with regulated heat/air conditioning, low noise level.

Occasionally: Perform Calculations, Bend, Squat, Kneel, Reach above shoulder level, Push/Pull, Carry/Lift loads up to 50 lbs. using equipment assistance, exposed to marked changes in temperature and/or humidity, exposed to excessive noise.

F = Frequently (51% or more of the time).

R = Regularly (16 – 50% of the time).

O = Occasionally (2 - 15% of the time).
