SUMMARY

The role of the Quality Lead is pivotal in upholding our organizational standards. Working closely with the Quality Supervisor, the Quality Lead ensures that all technician tasks are executed accurately and per our standards. By demonstrating expertise in all Quality Inspection functions, the Quality Lead is well-equipped to provide guidance and support to the team when needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Lead and manage a team of quality technicians.
* Motivate and counsel employees to maintain a productive workplace.
* Train and prepare technicians, ensuring adherence to procedures and safety protocols.
* Plan and execute duties for testing and inspection of materials and products.
* Coordinate the flow of work and materials based on departmental schedules.
* Guide technicians through the planned sequence of operations.
* Evaluate the team's daily status and communicate with the Quality Supervisor.
* Interpret output data for final inspection and determine pass/fail results.
* Conduct tests and inspections adhering to MIL and ASTM standards, including requests for onsite customer observations, e.g., military personnel.
* Compute test results using appropriate mathematical formulas.
* Maintain meticulous records of inspections and quality metrics.
* Implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
* Introduce innovative methods to enhance quality and efficiency.
* Interface with production, engineering, and quality assurance staff to answer questions and provide support.
* Coordinate with production to schedule inspections.

Supervisory responsibilities involve overseeing and managing a team or individual to ensure adequate performance and job satisfaction and contribute to individuals' career goals as established by the Quality Supervisor.

TRAVEL

Approximately 10% of travel is expected.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

* High school diploma or equivalent.
* 2+ years' experience in a quality inspection role within a manufacturing environment.
* 1+ years of leadership skills and experience managing a team is preferred.
* Background in aerospace, defense, or cable assembly industries favored.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must maintain industry certifications applicable to the supported position and value stream, including applicable IPC standards, ISO-9001 & ISO-13485.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
* Conversational in any other language is a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

* Basic arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
* Basic Geometry: The ability to understand and work with shapes, angles, lines, and planes.

JOB SKILLS

* Proficient in MS Office Suite and SharePoint.
* Knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, SAP preferred.
* Familiar with Quality Department Functions (FAI, Inspection, MRB, RMA, Source).
* Understanding and use of capability analysis, JMP software, and statistical evaluation.
* Strong knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies.
* Proficient in the use of quality inspection tools and equipment.
* Familiarity with ISO standards and regulatory compliance.
* Ability to apply job-specific understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including working with cross-functional teams.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

As part of their job duties, the employee must sit for lengthy periods while operating a computer. They frequently use their hands to type, handle objects, and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds. This role requires lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, reaching at or below shoulder level, and keyboarding. According to ADA regulations, reasonable accommodation will be provided to ensure that individuals with disabilities can perform the job's essential functions.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

* ASTM F-2412-2005, ANSI Z41-1999, or ANSI Z41-1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas.
* Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas.
* Hearing protection in specific locations.
* Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas.
