With continual growth comes opportunity and Sargent has an immediate opening for a Quality Engineer IV.

Position Summary

The Quality Engineer IV is the position that will provide leadership in the application of quality principles to one or more of Sargent’s product lines. This position will work with personnel at all levels of the organization including customers as well as suppliers while supporting the company’s efforts towards meeting customer requirements and ensuring quality product is delivered to customers. Provide assistance to Quality Management towards improving the Quality Management System, the performance of the QMS processes, Design and Implementation of Quality Assurance Process Controls and increasing customer satisfaction, improving process, product and service quality.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement and maintain Quality process controls, Error proofing, SPC, inspection reduction / elimination programs and quality data collection, analysis processes and reporting
  • Analyze process and product performance, internal rejects/MRRs, customer RMA, Escapes and initiate Quality Improvement projects making sure formal, structured quality tools are utilized, identifying root cause(s), implementing robust , permanent corrective actions that will prevent reoccurrence
  • Establish a priority for CI projects based on data, driving systematic quality improvements using CI & Problem Solving tools, identifying root cause(s), implement immediate containment, corrective actions and prevent reoccurrence
  • Invariably utilize formal Quality tools; process mapping, FMEA's, Control Plans, Process Controls, Problem Solving and CI to drive systematic quality improvements including process reviews, MSA, FAI reviews, Product Qualifications, etc. engaging with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Develop and execute Gage R&R (gage repeatability and reproducibility) studies, and recommend actions to improve measurement methods
  • Design and Implement Q (rejects, risks and opportunities) Feedback system for; Receiving Inspection, SQE and Process Inspection to improve our product quality
  • Work with value stream management to create, revise and control Sargent written procedures and enforce compliance to Sargent policies and procedures
  • Use GD&T to review and signoff on new drawings, DCNs and FAI, assess effect in measurement methods, gage design and propose DFM/DFA opportunities
  • Mentor and Train QEII and QMETs
  • Act as liaison with customers by processing customer complaints, RMAs and assessing product returns, leveraging lesson learned to improve the Quality System
  • Collaborate and work together with cross functional teams to reach the company's goals
  • All other roles and responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • BS degree in a technical discipline and eight years of experience as a quality engineer
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification with completed Lean/ Six Sigma Projects
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams with technical expertise using quality tools including root cause analysis, Process Reviews, Pareto analysis, and Failure Mode Effects Analysis
  • Proficient with Minitab, QI Macros or other equivalent statistical software
  • Strong analytical skills- ability to perform systematically and creatively, to identify and develop quality solutions, and use appropriate judgment and decision-making skills necessary to achieve desired goals
  • Proven knowledge of Quality Management System standards
  • Technical writing ability
  • Ability to read drawings including GD&T
  • Demonstrated experience with quality metrics, statistical control analysis and critical thinking methodologies
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to adhere to a strict production schedule and handle conflicting priorities
  • Proficient with applicable computer programs, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook
  • Proven presentation and speaking skills
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in a technical discipline
  • Experience as a Quality/CI Manager in an ISO9001/AS9100 or IATF16949 environment
  • Highly skilled Continuous Improvement techniques including Lean Manufacturing
  • Hold a current ASQ certification as a Quality Engineer or other appropriate professional certification
  • Ten or more years of Quality Engineering/Quality Assurance experience in the aerospace and defense industry
  • Internal Auditor Certification to AS9100 Quality System
  • Demonstrated experience in a IATF16949 or AS9100 QMS environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge with Design Of Experiments
  • Ability to create an Access Database
  • Defense Contract Management Agency and Federal Aviation Administration experience
