Who are we looking for?

Due to continued rapid growth and expansion of our U.S. West Organics and Wastewater businesses, we are seeking a Project Engineer-Organics, Wastewater & Energy with experience in delivering projects involving organics, anaerobic digestion, co-digestion, biosolids, composting, and/or wastewater treatment.

We are seeking a registered California Professional Engineer with experience in front-end design/process engineering to join a multi-disciplinary team of process and process-mechanical engineers that focus on organics management and treatment, anaerobic digestion, side stream management, receiving stations, and biogas management/utilization facilities - from traditional wastewater treatment plant upgrades, to complex MRF organics processing facilities and food waste digestion/co-digestion operations. Experience in alternative delivery of municipal water/wastewater projects, organics management, solid waste, and industrial water/wastewater is also desirable.

The position will bebased in one of our Northern California offices (Santa Rosa; Concord; San Francisco).

Responsibilities include:

  • Work directly with engineers and multi-discipline technical teams in the execution of various ongoing projects that span traditional landfill services to food waste co-digestion at wastewater treatment plants, to cutting-edge technology applications for electricity, RNG, and hydrogen production.
  • Contribute to our teams as a Project Engineer, Task Leader, or Assistant Project Manager.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct engineering work on projects of various sizes.
  • Responsible for budget, schedule, contractual obligations, and quality standards.
  • Help drive project deliverables to meet or exceed GHD's internal and external client quality objectives.
  • Work on engineering designs, prepare reports, and assist in developing plans, engineering specifications, and cost estimates for various projects.
  • Supervise or coordinate the work of staff engineers, drafters, technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments.
  • Effectively communicate and build positive relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Assist in project pursuits, proposal development, and client-facing activities.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other GHD offices and staff across regions and markets, including waste, energy and water/wastewater groups.
  • Join GHD's Future Energy Ambassador network and input into the connected network in this space across the Americas.
Qualifications:
  • ProfessionalBachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering. Master's degree desirable.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in California.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of engineering and/or project management experience, working as part of multi-discipline engineering teams. Experience working for municipal agency desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Led and/or supported front-end design/preliminary design serving in a process engineering and/or process mechanical role, as well as led delivery of work as a project manager or assistant project manager.
  • Experience in project management, design, construction administration, and commissioning.
  • Execution of multi-discipline projects for both conceptual/feasibility design, and for detailed design until project close-out at end of warranty period.
  • Experience with design build, progressive design build, P3, and other alternative project delivery models.
  • Knowledge of the California regulatory framework is an asset.

Salary Range: $ $100,000 - $150,000 based on experience.
