About the Opportunity 

As a Project Coordinator, you will assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in conducting a community-based intervention in partnership with the Health Sciences and Technology Academy (HSTA) to incrsease the knowledge of COVID-19 risk factors and prevention measures, and boost vaccine confidence among adults with chronic conditions in West Virginia.

What you'll do:
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the HSTA communities, teachers, student health navigators, community partners, stakeholder advisory board members and the leadership team.
  • Comply with all IRB and other regulatory policies and procedures for the conduct of research.
  • Provide support in making arrangements for the educational intervention and health navigator training.
  • Coordinate with the student health navigators, teacher supervisors, and HSTA site coordinators for program planning, participant recruitment, and assessments.
  • Assist with tracking participant recruitment and implementation during the program period in coordination with health navigators, and HSTA teachers/site coordinators.
  • Check data in REDCap for completeness and accuracy. Track missing information for study participants and health navigators. 
  • Schedule program planning, leadership and stakeholder advisory board meetings and follow-ups with HSTA teachers, site coordinators, and student health navigators.
  • Potential day trips, either alone or with study team, from Morgantown to various HSTA counties if needed for program planning activities, meetings, and program implementation.
  • Create and modify documents e.g., data collection forms, health navigator tracking logs, data entry codebooks, etc.
  • Create and maintain databases in RedCap for program evaluation.
  • Enter and supervise research data into databases.   
  • Perform basic descriptive computations.
  • Follow SPH policies and procedures.
  • Take meeting notes and transcribe qualitative data as needed. 
  • Prepare, submit, and amend study-related IRB protocols; Maintain knowledge of professional principles, legal and/or reporting requirements and government standards. 
  • Coordinate and troubleshoot any issues experienced by health navigators using their provided tablets and/or REDCap with assistance from HSC ITS.    


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field OR an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in conducting research studies and data management.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills in working with HSTA students and teachers, fellow staff, stakeholder advisory board members, and investigators.
  • Ability to interact professionally and compassionately with HSTA students, teachers, and staff.
  • Ability to coordinate and work with WV communities.
  • Knowledge of research methods and implementing health promotion programs.
  • Skilled to interview study participants.
  • Strong data collection, management, and entry skills.
  • Attention to detail and work to reduce/eliminate data entry errors.
  • Maintains skills in, or knowledge of, professional principles, legal and/or reporting requirements affecting area of responsibility.
  • Ability to administer questionnaires.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Skilled at utilizing PCs, tablets, the Internet, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to learn HIPAA, IRB, RedCap or Qualtrics, and other regulatory and software requirements.
  • Knowledge of community-based programs and healthcare environment for diabetes and COVID-19 care.
  • Knowledge of WV culture and in program planning and implementation.
  • Leadership qualities to lead team and stakeholder advisory board meetings and oversee program implementation by student health navigators, as part of a research study.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in health communication and educational interventions for patients with chronic diseases and/or COVID-19.
  • Trained/certified and experienced in project and data management skills.
