Department of Neurosurgery has an opening for a full-time Professor Series (Open Rank) Position.

The Neuropsychology Division in the Department of Neurosurgery at University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus School of Medicine is seeking a full-time bilingual Neuropsychologist for our Spanish language clinic. The University of Colorado Hospital Neuropsychology Clinic serves a broad array of neurologic, medical, and psychiatric patients, with the majority of our referrals coming from our Neurosurgery and Neurology clinics, including pre- and post-surgical evaluations for our Deep Brain Stimulation and Epilepsy Surgery teams. Other neurosurgical and neurologic populations that we frequently see include brain tumors, neurodegenerative disorders, multiple sclerosis, and concussion. Our Spanish language clinic has been developed to provide equitable neuropsychological assessment services for our Spanish speaking patients. Denver is the 19th largest city in the US, with over 30% of the population identifying as Hispanic or Latino, and offers a vast array of multicultural experiences and opportunities.

Essential Responsibilities
  1. Conduct outpatient neuropsychological evaluations of bilingual Spanish and monolingual Spanish speaking patients in the new Spanish-language clinic within the UCH Neuropsychology Clinic. Activities include neuropsychological testing, scoring, interpretation, and report writing, and providing feedback to patients and/or referring physicians.
  2. Provide the same outpatient neuropsychological evaluations of English speaking patients in our existing UCH Neuropsychology Clinic. Activities include neuropsychological testing, scoring, interpretation, and report writing, and providing feedback to patients and/or referring physicians.
  3. Training and supervision of bilingual Spanish-English speaking Neuropsychology Technicians and English-speaking Neuropsychology Technicians to ensure quality of neuropsychological test administration and scoring and adequate performance of other essential job-related duties.
  4. Training and supervision of Neuropsychology Post-doctoral Fellows, including specialized instruction in cross-cultural neuropsychology and potential development of a future Fellowship position in cross-cultural neuropsychology
  5. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at:

Instructor/Senior Instructor - $100,000 - $115,000

Assistant Professor - $115,000 - $135,000

Associate Professor - $145,000 - $160,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications
Instructor/Senior Instructor Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Completion of a two-year post-doctoral fellowship specializing in Clinical Neuropsychology with additional specialized training in Cross-cultural Neuropsychology, with a reasonable proportion of clinical practice in Cross-cultural Neuropsychology.
  • Experience with neurosurgical and neurological patient populations, including pre- and post- neurosurgical evaluations, brain tumor, epilepsy, movement disorders, dementia, and multiple sclerosis.

Assistant Professor Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
    At least three years of experience in full-time Neuropsychology clinical practice with at least one year of experience in clinical neuropsychology practice in an academic medical setting. A significant proportion of clinical practice in Cross-cultural Neuropsychology. Extensive experience with neurosurgical and neurological patient populations, including pre- and post- neurosurgical evaluations, brain tumor, epilepsy, movement disorders, dementia, and multiple sclerosis.

Associate Professor Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
    At least five years of experience in full-time Neuropsychology clinical practice with at least two years of experience in clinical neuropsychology practice in an academic medical setting. A significant proportion of clinical practice in Cross-cultural Neuropsychology. Extensive experience with neurosurgical and neurological patient populations, including pre- and post- neurosurgical evaluations, brain tumor, epilepsy, movement disorders, dementia, and multiple sclerosis.

OR
    Experience managing a multi-disciplinary Cross-cultural Neuropsychology service in an academic medical setting with neurosurgical and neurological patient populations, including pre- and post- neurosurgical evaluations, brain tumor, epilepsy, movement disorders, dementia, and multiple sclerosis.

Knowledge and Skills
    Must be bilingual in English and Spanish at a proficiency level that allows for accurate communication with patients and family members and that allows for administration and interpretation of standardized Spanish language neuropsychological measures.

Certification and Licensure
    Must have an active license (or be immediately eligible for licensure) to practice psychology in the state of Colorado.

Education:
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited program, with an emphasis in Neuropsychology. Additional specialized training in Cross-cultural Neuropsychology is preferred.
  • Completion of an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship specializing in Neuropsychology. Additional specialized training in Cross-cultural Neuropsychology is preferred.
  • Completion of a two-year post-doctoral fellowship specializing in Clinical Neuropsychology with additional specialized training in Cross-cultural Neuropsychology
  • Eligibility for Board Certification in Clinical Neuropsychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP-CN)
  • OR Board Certification in Clinical Neuropsychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP-CN)
