The Product Line Specialist (PLS) is the subject matter expert in technical and commercial applications. In this role, the Specialist develops and delivers technical and commercial training, conducts product line forecasting, conducts ongoing competitive and market analyses and oversees the implementation of commercialization and vitality initiatives to meet the product line revenue targets.

The Specialist will play a key role in providing commercial support to the Product Line Manager including implementing pricing strategies, developing pricing and margin targets on non-standard product requests, and developing collateral and tools to equip the sales organization and channel partners.

The PLS will be based in Marengo, IL.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Growth

  • Monitor, influence, and impact the active opportunity funnel in cooperation with the sales team and channel partners
  • Influence and support lead generation and qualification activities
  • Educate, train, and inspire sellers to effectively value sell our products and grow our market share
  • Conduct customer negotiations in cooperation with Sales
  • Evaluate customer-specific applications and provide technical recommendations. Provide expert guidance and reasonable trade-offs to customers.
  • Assist outside sales representatives in overcoming technical and commercial barriers to high-value sales opportunities
  • Provide support both remotely, and on site, as required
  • Support product manager in metrics tracking, building business cases, and financial forecasting
  • Project manage the implementation of commercialization activities for all New Product Development launches to ensure attainment of financial objectives within launch timelines.

Margin Expansion
  • Prepare price recommendations to ensure attainment of revenue and margin targets.
  • Update data, systems, and processes to ensure accurate and timely pricing.
  • Work with Engineering, Manufacturing and suppliers as needed to support VAVE and supply chain initiatives

Collateral, External Communication, and Promotions
  • Develop sales tools and collateral to equip field sales, inside sales and channel partners for success.
  • Ensure all marketing and sales collateral reflects the current product line offering with accurate data and optimized messaging
  • Coordinate with product engineering and marketing communications to drive enhancements of online tools (website, sizing and selection software, etc.)
  • Work with marketing communications and product line colleagues develop application "success stories," catalogue material, sales bulletins and white papers

Technical Training
  • Consolidate and further develop technical training materials.
  • Lead training sessions with customers, distributors, and internal sales and application resources

Market Research & Strategy Development
  • Collect Voice of Customer (VOC) and market trend feedback continuously
  • Collect and prepare competitive product feature comparison spreadsheets, pricing analyses
  • Effectively track success and failure rates determine causes (and themes); leverage themes/causes to continually improve process/customer interaction to increase success rate
  • Support Product Manager in the development and execution of strategic initiatives

Job Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Engineering or related field is required
  • Previous technical or commercial experience with linear mechanical components
  • Proficient with MS Excel / Word / PowerPoint
  • Prior Marketing / Product Management experience is preferred
  • Strong project management and implementation skills
  • Prior use of Oracle or similar ERP program; strong analytical skills

**Must be willing and able to travel by all forms of transportation. Job requires up to 40% travel, including international locations.
