Product Governance Manager

Office of Strategic Enrollment Management

Exempt, Regular, Full Time, Pay Grade 3.3

Job Location: Hybrid/Adelphi, MD

The University of Maryland Global Campus is building a student- and market-focused product management function to help steer the strategic direction of the University. The Product Governance Manager will manage product development administration by orchestrating monthly governance meeting activities, including agendas, document libraries, reports, and communications. The Manager will also compile research from various online and subscription sources to contribute to reports and presentations. The Manager will work across functions, departments, and organizational levels, as well as within the marketing and admissions department, to establish effective working relationships and ensure smooth operations of the product management practice.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Supports the Director of Product Management within the marketing department by performing administrative, communications and research functions.
  • Process Management: Facilitate the entire product management process to ensure its seamless operation, identifying areas of improvement, and implementing enhancements as required.
  • Reporting: Regularly compile, analyze, and present data to help the executive and operational teams make informed decisions.
  • Portfolio Management: Maintain an organized view of all products, their stages, and health.
  • Document Management: Ensure all product-related documents are stored, updated, and easily accessible. Maintain intranet and training content. Collect and assemble competitive, market, and internal data to contribute to documents, presentations, and spreadsheets.
  • Feedback Loop: Compile and distribute governance meeting notes, communicating governance outcomes and tracking follow-up action items. Collaborate with product managers to solicit and incorporate feedback into improving the process.
  • Organize and lead internal stakeholder meetings as required.
  • Utilize online platforms and tools to facilitate the product management process.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years in product management, project management or business managemen

  • Ability to effectively implement planning and organizational skills to carry out and follow through with assignments for a new functional marketing area in which no clear precedents exist.
  • Ability to clearly communicate both orally and in writing to a diverse group of staff and faculty to carry out multiple assignments and plan accordingly to manage monthly governance meeting support functions.
  • Internet research: ability to search for and assemble large amounts of information in a concise and user-friendly format.
  • Ability to learn new online systems and tools.
  • Excellent project management, administrative and meeting management skills
  • Microsoft Office applications - Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Preferred Education and Experience
  • Knowledge and experience working with the following: SharePoint, data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI), project management platforms (e.g., Smartsheet), IPEDS data.
  • Higher education/academia background
