Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is seeking a Process Engineering Intern to support project teams that are assigned to specific client projects in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industries. The engineering intern will report to the engineering manager for assignments, and to the lead engineer and/or the project manager on specific projects.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in producing project deliverables such as:

  • Process Engineering: process flow diagrams, piping and instrument diagrams, material balances and process calculations, timelines/simulations, utility summaries and calculations, equipment lists, equipment data sheets and specifications, and instrument data sheets and specifications - The engineering intern should also be CAD proficient to assist in completion of process drawings
  • Piping and Mechanical Engineering: equipment layouts, pipe routing diagrams, piping orthographics and isometrics, piping specifications, HVAC load calculations, airflow diagrams, hydronic diagrams, and utility diagrams
  • Electrical Engineering: load calculations, single line diagrams, power and lighting plans, area classification plans, wiring diagrams, and electrical specifications
  • Project Management: project schedules, vendor bid packages, document submittal packages and construction documents - These activities could require day trips or working multiple days at the client sites
  • May interface with all design disciplines such as process, architectural, piping, building mechanical, automation, electrical, and qualification
  • May also interact with equipment vendors and the construction team


Skills / Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering or other similar curriculum
  • Must have good communication and presentation skills
  • Must be able to work well within a team environment
  • Must be willing to travel to company, client, and vendor sites
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
