This Systems Engineering role is located in Dulles, VA supporting Northrop Grumman's Tactical Space Systems NSS programs which include technical roles at the mission, segment, subsystem and component levels. They span the entire program life cycle from early concept studies, design development, system integration/test, launch and early operations, mission operations/sustainment and system disposal. Programs range from small feasibility studies to medium-sized on orbit technology demonstrations and large-scale national system programs.
Electrical Systems engineering responsibilities include:

  • Electrical System Architecture
  • Technical documentation development
  • System Requirement definition
  • Supporting design reviews
  • Writing procurements
  • Writing test software
  • Defining and managing hardware and software interfaces, and requirements verification
  • The role will include interface with clients, as well as regular interactions with internal engineering associates and program management.
  • The role may require assisting in new business activities such as conceptual design and analysis for proposals and funded studies, and may include authoring sections for both
  • This role may include leading electrical technical teams
The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation experience and the ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the program team.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have U.S. Citizenship with a current or active Top Secret and the ability to obtain SCI level access
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM area (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 5 years of relevant work experience or 3 years of relevant work experience with a Master's degree
  • Position may be hired at a higher level with a Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of experience or Master's Degree and 7 years of experience
  • Experience with electronics system development, design and testing, including managing system interfaces to integrate sub-systems
  • Experience leading multi-disciplined development teams,
  • Experience with resource tracking and program management
  • Experience with manufacturing and installation of electric equipment
  • Electrical System Design Experience
  • Hands-on root-cause troubleshooting experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with agile hardware and software development
  • Experience in design for manufacturing
  • Experience in development of engineering processes and documentation, configuration control and related processes
  • Experience in system testing and evaluation including test data analyses, non-conformance investigations and closure and root cause/corrective action methods
  • Space electronics design experience
  • Experience defining ground architecture to satisfy EMI and EMC requirements
