We are hiring a Principal Product Designer to join the Design & Research team at Tealium. The Principal Product Designer will lead and contribute to the reimagining of critical application areas within our platform. You'll work through complex user experience problems and deliver solutions through a unified product experience. The Principal Product Designer will have the opportunity to be a professional and cultural leader within the Design & Research team, advocate for design within the organization, and be a driver of best design practices.

WHAT YOU'LL DO AT TEALIUM:

You'll collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other designers, to help build captivating and useful features that bring delight to our customers, are easy to use, and add value to our business. You'll contribute to the evolution of our product suite and collaborate on new applications and initiatives. You will be a part of a cross-functional team contributing to planning, requirements, research, and design. You'll work with design leadership and product management to proactively identify higher-order issues and opportunities and execute on initiatives at the highest level of craftsmanship and efficiency.

The Principal Designer is also a thought leader for the entire team of product designers and will focus on excellence in design execution across the portfolio. Working closely with and mentoring and coaching other designers, as well as setting up systems and processes that enable efficient high-quality work. You will provide vision and creative oversight that moves our product designs forward, setting a high bar for our platform's user experience. You will be responsible for maintaining a unified product experience that leverages and adheres to our growing design system. You'll be a senior decision maker, and together with the Director of Design will help set and execute the vision for design at Tealium.

YOUR DAY TO DAY

    • Lead critical UX/UI work efforts from concept to delivery. Ensuring consistency and scalability across a variety of end-to-end user experiences. Using systems thinking to understand and plan for how your work affects the broader product.
    • Collaborate closely with design and product leadership to understand product vision and contribute to the overall direction of your product area.
    • Design workflows, low-fidelity prototypes and high-fidelity visuals for product features.
    • Work closely with front-end engineering to ensure the successful handoff and execution of user interface designs and the preservation of the original design intent in the final product.
    • Develop and improve a shared product design language across our platform. Leveraging our design system and championing it's adherence in design proposals to ensure continuity in the products and maintaining a shared visual language.
    • Facilitate and participate in team design critiques, individual designer working sessions and work reviews.
    • Participate in design system strategy, coordination and audits.
    • Actively evaluate the product and look for opportunities to unify and improve the user experience across the platform.

WHAT YOU BRING TO TEALIUM

    • You have a proven track record in setting a vision for great user experiences, inspiring others to get behind the vision, and ultimately delivering products and services that are known for their ease of use and delightful experience.
    • You have a proven user-centered design workflow that comprises: design, prototyping, presentation, sharing and soliciting feedback, influencing key decision-makers, and collaborative handoffs with engineers.
    • You promote design thinking and advocate for design solutions that are efficient to use and solve user problems.
    • You understand that achieving great design is a team effort and relies on close collaboration.
    • You work with cross-functional teams and partners to drive strategy, vision, and execution. Working transparently to create designs based on findings from research, data, and feedback from your team.
    • You are a strategic leader on the Design team, supporting and mentoring other designers, amplifying their efforts, and leading by example so that they can learn best practices, solid judgement, and critical self-management skills.
    • You are a partner to cross-functional team members and uphold our principles, practices and standards.
    • You provide thoughtful and skilled critique of other's work. You have the ability to provide useful and constructive feedback to peers of all levels.
    • You are an advocate for research methodologies and have experience running quantitative and qualitative research and usability testing.
    • You can visualize ideas and concepts in such a way that they are communicated effectively and compellingly to internal leaders, partners and customers.
    • You thrive in an iterative, collaborative environment and can manage multiple projects concurrently.
    • Bachelor's degree (BS/BE) in design or related field. (or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree).6+ years of industry experience in UX or product design
    • You've contributed to and shipped features for multiple SaaS or consumer products over the years and understand what it takes to create engaging user experiences.
    • You have experience being the lead on projects and coordinating with other design resources in the execution of SaaS product design work.
    • You have a portfolio of impeccably executed enterprise or consumer product design work that demonstrates your principles, methodologies, approach and interaction design skills. Please provide us with a link to an online portfolio that you can share with us and provide any necessary passwords.
    • You have the ability to balance user needs, technology constraints, and business goals to create a useful, usable, and desirable product.
    • You have a strong passion for working with and expanding existing software applications as well as creating new experiences.
    • You are skilled at developing level-of-effort estimates for design projects and report on their progress.
    • You have experience with user research methods and user testing to validate proposals.
    • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills to craft compelling stories and are comfortable presenting in front of a variety of stakeholders and audiences.
    • You have expert knowledge in design tools like Figma for primary design, prototyping and developer handoff.
