FULL DETAILS - ROLE

Cambridge Consultants is a technical consultancy with hundreds of world-class engineers. We take on a large variety of challenging projects with a focus on delivering breakthrough innovations. As an embedded software expert and lead, you will help create the next generation of medical devices ranging from electromechanical drug delivery systems to consumer health care and health monitoring applications, class C implants, and surgical robots including visualization and navigation systems. Each project is a new opportunity to learn and deliver.

DAY-TO-DAY

  • Engage with clients to gather requirements and needs for new projects and work with them to gain an understanding of how we can help them, from both a software and a systems perspective
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team to architect systems and solve complex client needs
  • Lead teams to develop software systems and deliver high-quality code
  • Execute rapid prototyping in support of proof of principle activities
  • Perform tests, code reviews, and other quality assurance tasks
  • Support Business Development and Project Management activities by supporting the bid process, schedule creation, and team formation
  • Lead and support internal efforts to develop new technology offerings
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED - MUST HAVE:
  • BS In Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or similar field
  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills - both in person and remote
  • 7 years of relevant experience developing software systems
  • 3+ years of experience in a software leadership role, communicating timescales and milestone achievements with senior stakeholders, working independently and with members of a multidisciplinary team (electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, human factors, design)
  • Experience leading software development for medical devices in compliance with IEC 62304 and ISO 14971
  • Embedded C and Python experience
  • Experience using source control (Git, Subversion) and familiarity with issue tracking systems (Jira, Gitlab)
BONUS POINTS:
  • Previous experience in a consulting company
  • Experience with medical device connectivity and cybersecurity
  • Experience with wireless systems such as Bluetooth, WiFi, etc.
  • Experience with software and system modelling with UML or SysML
  • Experience with C++
  • Experience with robotics and/or motion control
  • Experience with embedded real-time operating systems, for example QNX
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Github/Gitlab
  • Embedded Linux kernels and drivers, device trees, and build systems experience
