Hagerty's Preparedness Division supports public and private sector organizations' efforts to become better prepared and more resilient in the face of disasters through planning, training, and exercises. The Preparedness Division's efforts may include implementing capability and risk assessments, community impact analyses, after-action reporting, accreditation support, emergency/crisis management plan development, program implementation, and training and exercises.
To help support our growing portfolio of work, we are looking for a mid-level professional to join the Preparedness Division with a focus on transportation sectors. This individual will develop and refine deliverables, coordinate with clients and colleagues, and contribute to transportation sector thought leadership and business development efforts with limited supervisory oversight.
Location:
Candidates for this position can be virtual. Our ideal candidate is in the Washington, DC metro area. All candidates must be willing to travel to client site as needed.
Responsibilities:

  • Supporting project initiatives for transportation sector clients related to emergency management and homeland security, including assessments, plans, training, exercises, and evaluations.
  • Contributing to the development of tools, approaches, and resources to help build and share expertise across projects, geographies, and focus areas.
  • Supporting project management activities by mentoring and coaching direct reports and peers, resource planning, and monitoring compliance with project controls and requirements.
  • Contributing to the maturation of the Division's service lines, including identifying emerging issues and trends where Hagerty may be able to support new and prospective clients.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of emergency management experience and strong understanding of emergency management processes at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), the Incident Command System (ICS), the National Response Framework (NRF), National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF), and other preparedness guidance documents and policies.
  • Experience in exercise planning and an understanding of the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP).
  • A bachelor's degree or higher.
Candidates for this position should be:
  • Capable of managing conflicting priorities that are subject to change with minimal notice.
  • Able to adapt to changing requirements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable with a significant amount of client and stakeholder interaction, including managing expectations and timelines directly with client points of contact.
  • Highly proficient and comfortable with meeting facilitation.
  • Self-directed and able to support client needs with minimal direction.
  • Detail oriented with strong technical writing skills, including quality assurance and quality control.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Experience, education, or a high degree of interest in or associated with the transportation industry.
