Position Summary: 

Vallen’s Manager – Planning is an individual contributor responsible for planning and tracking procurement activities. Ensures buyers minimize risk regarding quality and financial exposure by buying in accordance with quality and commercial procedures. Overseeing the day-to-day purchasing and inventory activities within their assigned region. Maintain communications with other departments to ensure purchasing and logistics strategies that support the business by optimizing quality, and reliability of suppliers and supplied products.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors the procurement and inventory processes and activities. Pro-actively works to resolve issues related to procurement cost, quality and delivery.
  • Leads and promotes project activities of the Regional Planning team in the effective planning and tracking of procurement and inventory.
  • Responsible for end-to-end planning of inventory including sales in excess of invoicing from purchase requisition to customer invoice.
  • Sets inventory parameters, inventory targets, and ensure adequate replenishment of inventory through purchase orders.
  • Calculates and maintains in the planning systems and the ERPs the inventory parameters: safety stock, reorder point, lot size, lead-time, and replenishment strategies.
  • Mitigates inventory risks by partnering with regional and market operations and sales leadership to monitor inventory investments, aged inventory and drives timely action plans.
  • Collaborates with buyers for obtaining the best possible supplier performance in terms of supplier on-time delivery, Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ), quality, lead-time, and flexibility.
  • Analyses excess and obsolete/aging inventory. Takes appropriate action for optimizing inventory performance, in collaboration with sales, marketing, manufacturing and procurement and Inventory.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of related business experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that gives the individual the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job.

Relevant experience should include:

  • Solid organizational skills and strong customer service orientation
  • Understanding of corporate profitability goals as they relate to the competitive landscape
  • Knowledge of Vallen geographic, service and product capabilities
  • Knowledge of database utilization including account profitability analysis tools
  • Proven managerial skills with a documented affinity for professionally managing/completing multiple projects/tasks within limited timeframes
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines while producing quality work products

 

 

 

Working Conditions and Environment:

Travel:  Yes – 60%

  • This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.

  • May be required to handle hazardous materials and wear various forms of protective equipment (shoes, gloves, protective eyewear, etc.)
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand and may include little to no advanced notice.
  • May be required to lift up to 15
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
