Description:

Under the direction of a Registered Pharmacist and general supervision of a licensed Pharmacy Technician, assists Pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Provides courteous, cooperative, and timely service to patients, visitors and staff.

Education
Minimum
High school diploma or equivalent.

Credentials/Licensure
Minimum
Possess an Illinois Pharmacy Technician License.
Possess Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT).

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Minimum
Good written and verbal communication skills.

Good math skills (multiplication, division, addition, subtraction) in calculations involving fractions, decimals, percentages and volumes.

PHARMACY TECHNICIAN SPECIALIST I: ONCOLOGY PHARMACY

  • Responsible for the accurate and safe compounding of medication admixtures in an environment set forth by USP 797 chapter and organization policies and procedures
  • Handle hazardous drugs according to USP 800 and NIOSH recommendations
  • Maintaining a clean room for sterile compounding, performing routine quality assurance monitoring, complying with regulatory and institutional guidelines for the disposal of hazardous drug waste, and perform other miscellaneous job related tasks/activities as assigned by the supervising pharmacist
