Overview

Leads the architectural project needs of the divisions by partnering with the division leadership team and the corporate architecture department on product development while managing outside design and technical resources for the project. Maintains timelines and budgets for architectural aspects of our communities. Also serves a primary role in coordinating Beazer's commitment toward energy efficient product and staying compliant with local codes, Energy Star, Indoor Air Plus, and Zero Energy Ready programs.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development process for all architectural projects.
  • Conduct regular competitive architectural market analysis, interpret findings and education team members.
  • Determines the best strategic course of action to complete projects and coordinates with internal and external resources accordingly. Leads/Manages plan production process with the division team from schematic design to approval of construction documents.
  • Manages external design consultants to ensure internal deadlines are met for new plan development and projects. (e.g. architect, structural engineer, mechanical engineer, solar contractor, etc.)
  • Reviews work delivered from consultant team(s) for quality control and ensures that internal standards are met.
  • Reviews product strategy and needs with division leadership and corporate Planning and Design and makes recommendations based on market research.
  • Reviews projects at milestone completions to assure they meet value design, target profile, division requirements, corporate standards and quality drafting standards.
  • Manages and maintains project schedules for all assigned projects to assure they are completed on time.
  • Updates division team on status of projects using current internal systems. Maintains project tracker and any field requests.
  • Tracks/maintains all plan histories and version (architectural, structural and MEP plans). Ensures files are stored correctly per corporate policy.
  • Ensures consultants are in compliance with applicable building codes, jurisdictional requirements and company standards.
  • Assists with all other requests by division leadership, including reviews of marketing collateral (brochures and interactive plans on beazer.com) for accuracy.
  • Coordinates and leads all prototype frame walks, design charrettes, elevation charrettes, schematic designs, value engineering meetings and annual product strategy meetings.
  • Coordinates schematic design reviews with division, consultants and corporate Planning and Design.
  • Coordinates the bid process with the purchasing department; marketing material with the sales department; and any field changes with the construction department.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum competency requirements include: Bachelor degree in architecture/design from accredited institution with four plus years direct work experience including use of AutoCAD, or a two-year technical degree with six years direct work experience including two years of AutoCAD.

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient in AutoCAD as well as general office software for communication and data analysis.
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient in Bluebeam Revu
  • Ability to work on and prioritize several projects and tasks on a daily basis.

Technical Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience dealing with residential construction, building codes, drafting standards, value engineering and architectural styles/standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Typical office environment.
