Position Overview

Novelis - Davenport, is seeking an Operations Leader to join the Novelis team. The person in this role will report to the Manufacturing Unit Manager (MUM). The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the operational teams to perform as a world-class facility in Safety, Quality, and Efficiency. Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for coordinating all Operational functions for their respective department(s).
  • Lead the safe, efficient and continuous improvement of operations within various process functions of the plant
  • Managing and developing the employees within the process unit and meeting all key business objectives as set forth by the company.
  • Safely producing the short-term plan, making important policy and strategic decisions, as well as the development and implementations of operational policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Four-year engineering or technical degree and/or 5-8 years practical experience in line operations preferred.
  • Extensive experience in managing/supervising others in a complex and fast paced manufacturing environment with demonstrated results.
  • Superior leadership, team building skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication verbal and written and follow up skills
  • Adept at conflict resolution and effective motivational techniques.
  • Excellent understanding of Melting, Continuous Casting, Hot Rolling, and process equipment. Must have the ability to troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis on equipment and process issues.
  • Ability to Coordinate activities between various cross functional departments (e.g. production, maintenance, quality, supply chain, EHS, etc.)
  • Must have an understanding of cost and budgetary processes, inventory control procedures and methods, as well as operational procedures
  • Experience in implementing and supporting the business plan
  • Proficient in Computer Software - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project
  • Demonstrates self-knowledge and takes action to continuously improve
Location Profile

Established in 1991 the Davenport Casting facility employs more than 200 people and serves the building and construction industry. The site produces hot rolled coil by utilizing specialized blending melting and continuous casting processes to produce high-quality aluminum sheet from predominantly recycled materials. Davenport Casting has an active social responsibility committee that supports many organizations in the local community including Habitat for Humanity Riverbend Food Bank CASI and more. The facility also sponsors local events including their partnership with Junior Achievement in sponsoring and presenting at the Advanced Manufacturing Career Day.
