Job Description:
Act as a representative of the agency to the public by assisting customers and handling phone calls regarding the fingerprinting processes with Livescan and ink, Concealed Handgun Permits, explosives permits, and criminal history background check processes. Collect and verify information, data entry, and capture fingerprints of customers requesting permits, criminal history requests, Sex Offender Registry, and background checks for other appointment types on a daily basis. Communicate and coordinate with NSP Criminal Identification Division teams in Lincoln. Utilization of state and national databases for information verification and criminal history reports. Accept, provide receipts, keep safe, and account for all money received and the entry of that money into administrative and accounting systems. Some in-state travel may be required. Be an integral team member and assist with daily functions and projects as requested; and other duties as directed by the troop area leadership.

Requirements/Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers and office equipment; research; or areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency OR experience in performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including the use of personal computers and office equipment.

PREFERRED: Associate's degree in Criminal Justice. Two years' experience working with Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, and Outlook. Excellent telephone skills are essential.

Applicants cannot maintain a continuous association or dealings with persons, groups, or organizations that they know, or should know are persons or groups or organizations under criminal investigation or indictment or who have a reputation for present, ongoing involvement in felonious or criminal behavior. Applicant must successfully complete an extensive background screening prior to being employed, which includes completion of a Personal History Questionnaire. Selection process will include an interview.

KNOWLEDGE OF: office procedures, administrative work assigned to the position, sources of information pertinent to the assigned work; the principles and practices of record keeping.

SKILL IN: strong and effective communications skills including knowledge of English grammar, spelling, etc.

ABILITY TO: communicate in person and by telephone, computer, email, or correspondence to exchange information and ideas; work independently with limited supervision; gather, compile, generate, and disseminate information; interact and maintain a close working relationship with diverse individuals and groups to include: law enforcement agencies, agency administrative personnel, and the public is essential. Learn the organizational structure, mission, and activities of the State Patrol; learn agency policies and procedures pertinent to the work assigned.
