The Clinical Dietitian Coordinator, under the direction of the Director of Food and Nutrition Services, along with a dotted reporting structure to the Regional Manager, Clinical Nutrition & Wellness, is responsible for all functions and management pertaining to the nutritional care of the patient, clinical duties of all clinical dietitians and operations of diet office in the Food and Nutrition Services Department. This position is responsible for assisting the Food and Nutrition Services Director and the Regional Manager, Clinical Nutrition & Wellness with clinical leadership, coordination, quality, risk management, productivity and human resource management of all clinical dietitians and diet office functions. Represents the Nutrition Services Department in a multidisciplinary health care team and is the primary liaison responsible for maintaining effective communication and cooperation with physicians and other healthcare professionals to achieve patient care goals. Responsible for managing compliance with all regulatory agency requirements.

What you will do:
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service/care appropriate to the age of the patients served, in accordance with MercyOne standards.
- Monitors, evaluates and prioritizes all clinical nutrition activities within the hospital and contracted dietetic services with MMC.
- Understands, articulates and ensures compliance with patient safety practices mandated by national, state and local regulatory agencies.
- Selects, trains, orients, schedules, completes payroll functions and assigns daily clinical, dietetic technician and diet office tasks.
- ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:
- Schedules and supervises clinical unit staffing and diet office operations, trains, conducts applicable rounding/observation and manages and evaluates daily performance of all staff.
- Ensures the provision of medical nutrition therapy and the nutrition care process including patient screening, assessment, diagnosis, intervention, education and menu processing according to established department policies.
- Assist the Regional Manager, Clinical Nutrition & Wellness in the development of standards of performance and job competencies; evaluates performance and responsible for personnel development.
- Oversees clinical dietitian documentation and implementation of medical nutrition therapy using the electronic medical record.
- Conducts yearly clinical competency assessments on all Clinical Dietitians and Diet Office staff.
- Develop and maintain staffing patterns in order to maximize staff productivity based on patient needs; adjust schedules and work assignments based on these needs and/or staff availability and competency levels.
- Monitor productivity/labor on a daily basis and make staffing adjustments based on patient needs and budgeted hours. Responsible for collecting data and submitted for productivity benchmarking.
- Assist Nutrition Services Director with the planning and processing of high quality, safe and nutritious patient meals.
- Assist with evaluating MMC contract dietetic services staffing hours, costs and revenue determining if the contracts align with department goals.
- Administers and communicates MMC and Departmental policies accurately and clearly to personnel. Conduct regular staff meetings with Clinical Dietitian work group and Diet Office personnel.
- Demonstrates and reinforces the behaviors reflective of the mission and core values of MMC in self and others.
- Facilitates and promotes cooperative and collaborative relationships among disciplines and departments to ensure consistent, effective and efficient delivery of patient care.
- Assist and support the Workplace Wellness Initiatives, through program development, nutritional education, working with the department chef developing healthy options within the cafeteria and for patients.
- Works with the Regional Manager, Clinical Nutrition & Wellness to implement Regional initiatives.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What we are looking for:
- Must be registered by the Commission of Dietetic Registration.
- Must be licensed by the State of Iowa.
- Prefer 2-3 years of clinical professional experience.
- Management and supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience with computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GroupWise), Cerner, CBORD and Kronos.
- May be requested to travel within the Siouxland region. When assigned to travel, a valid driver's license and proof of insurance will be submitted to manager prior to travel.
- Must have a general working knowledge of computers and department specific software (i.e. Healthstream, internet, etc.)
- Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
