TOWER HEALTH NURSE-EXTERN-APPRENTICE

Gain valuable clinical experience and improve the skills you've learned in school while caring for
patients under the supervision of an expert registered nurse. Increase competencies in critical
thinking, technical skills, self-confidence, and prioritization of care through this apprentice role.

Responsibilities

Apprentice are employed by Tower Health and will be expected to be at work when assigned.
Enhance skill acquisition through ongoing training and validation
The extern-apprentice will be a vital part of the healthcare team and is expected to perform as a partner with the nurse to give primary nursing care to their assigned patients.
Arrive to the unit at the scheduled time and work through the entire shift.
Build on experiences to continue learning and advance skills.
Complete an exit interview, and complete an ecaluation of their experience and preceptors.

Qualifications

Education Requirements
  • For senior nursing students (participation
    in the summer externship not required)
Certification and Licensure
  • BLS Certification
Other Requirements

• Letter of recommendation from school is required

• Must commit to one paid, 12-hour shift per
month at Reading Hospital
