Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Business Technology (NBT), is seeking qualified applicants for the position of NBT Network Engineer. The role of the NBT Network Engineeris to provide design and support for network switching,wireless infrastructure, and campus fiber cabling covering the scope of the Nucor steel manufacturingdivisions. This is a fulltime, permanent position with the Nucor Business Technology team located in Irving, Texas; however, candidate relocation to our offices in Charlotte, NC or Cincinnati, OH may also be considered.The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

Provides technical expertise to ensure that Voice and/or Data communications and network facilities are sufficient, appropriate, and functioning:

• Designs communications andnetwork facilities.
• Monitors, logs, tracks and resolves hardware and software deficiencies.
• Develops systems requirements and installs systems for new company facilities.
• Implements enterprise network changes.

Inaddition:

• Implements and provides ongoing maintenance,disaster recovery, and business continuity planning, preparation, procedures, audits and enhancements for all services.
• Maintains established service levels. Ensures timely troubleshooting and effective communications with impacted users.
• Assists in the development of service design, architecture and strategy.May be responsible for addressing security related items.
• Travel is required to perform tasks at remote facilities.May need to periodically work off hours and/or be available for on-call.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related discipline. Equivalent combination of experience and education will also be considered. Will also consider the pursuit of pertinent certification(s), such as the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), etc.
• Minimum 2 years related experiencein a large network environment, including core/distribution/access layers required.
  • Working knowledge of internetworking, troubleshooting or information security best practices.
  • Experience with configuring network switches and protocols including Scheduled Transfer Protocols (STP), Quality of Service (QOS), Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) management, and switch support for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP), Virtual Portal Channel (VPC), Virtual Design and Construction (VDC, Nexus), route mapping and Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) preferred.
• Experience with wireless/wireline security 802.1x authentication protocol implementation.
• Working knowledge of network baselining using Netflow, Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), packet sniffers and decoders.
• Working knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol (TCP / ICP) stack.
