Maintain Molds

Tear down molds to change components based on part print specification. Replace any damaged or worn-out mold components. Assemble mold and make any necessary adjustments such as adding shims. Clean molds and components by sand blasting or wire brushing as required before assembly. Report any damaged mold components and equipment to supervisor. Inform supervisor of any changes required on part prints. Inform supervisor when supplies are at low level. Keep workstation, cabinets, bins, tools, and equipment clean and orderly.

Must know and follow all plant, departmental and job safety rules.

Must know, understand, and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of and follow all applicable safe operating procedures and rules including housekeeping requirements.

Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements necessary for this skill or job area.

Level 2: Must be able to do all the above plus:

Using knowledge and expertise be able to work independently.

Must be willing and able to train lower-level Mold Assemblers.

Work with Engineering and other department to meet customer needs.

Promote teamwork and willingness to work with other departments. Ensure quality of work performed and prioritize multiple tasks.

Perform additional Duties as assigned.

Perform additional duties as assigned. Assist in other areas as needed.

Level 3: Must be able to do all the above plus:

Perform additional duties from Tooling shop. Demonstrate ability to operate CNC, Lathes, Grinder and EDM upon receipt of proper training.

Be able to perform other tool room tasks such as pins grinding and checking measurements of new tool inserts to replace worn or damaged one on molds.

Degree of Decision Making Power and Action without Higher Management Approval:

Requires the ability to perform a wide variety of mold assembly, repairing and tool keeping duties following prescribed methods. Judgment to set up and adjust molds and presses, receive and issue equipment. Semi-routine duties tearing down and assembling molds and keeping. Tool Room involving basic knowledge of standard methods and procedures requiring the use of a normal range of assembly, tool keeping techniques and procedures within the range of standard practice.

Significant Mental/Physical Demands of the Job:

Intermittent average physical effort handling average weight parts, material or equipment where handling time of such average weight to 40 lbs. is not sustained. Activity may not be continuous due to intermittent work with light weight items. Heavy work handled with a hoist. Intermittent mental and visual attention where adjustments, set ups, etc. Flow of work and character of duties involves normal manual dexterity for sustained periods.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

Able to work in ambient room temperatures, with some dirt, noise, dust, and oil, but not disagreeable. Maintain compliance with all Safety Rules and Regulations. Identify and report any safety risks, accidents, incidents (near miss), injuries and property damage at the workplace. Correct use of appropriate personal protective equipment.

Specific Training, Knowledge, Skills Required:

Fluency in English

High School diploma or equivalent

Experience changing and Assembling Molds (Level 1 1 - 5 yrs exp) (Level II and III -6+ yrs exp)

Able to use micrometers, calipers, and pin gauges.

Requires basic knowledge of characteristics of materials, processing methods and general shop terminology.

Self-Motivated

Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Excellent communication skills

Safety Conscious

5S and Lean Principles a plus
