Mental Health TherapistThe Student Counseling Center at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications or nominations for a licensed mental health therapist in the Student Counseling Center. This is a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track staff position. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals working together to support the mental health of UT students. We are seeking candidates who enjoy working with young adults in a university environment, are enthusiastic about a career in college mental health, and appreciate the importance of mental health to academic success.The Student Counseling Center is a comprehensive college counseling center staffed by 15 full-time providers (psychologists, counselors, social workers, MFT). As an APA accredited training site with 5 intern positions, the center provides a robust training program for multiple levels of doctoral psychology trainees. The department is actively engaged in suicide prevention and stress management programming within the university community. The Center shares a state-of-the-art facility with the Student Health Center, the Center for Health Education and Wellness, and Care and Resilience, allowing significant collaboration in the care of students.The Position: Reporting to the Associate Director, the primary duty of the therapist in this position is to provide direct mental health services to students and consultation with faculty and staff. The successful candidate will have strong general therapy skills in working with a wide range of clinical issues and complex diagnoses and the ability to provide effective treatment in a short-term model. The person in this position will engage with the university community through community intervention and outreach, development of liaison relationships with campus partners, and mental health consultation with faculty and staff. The position allows for engagement in the center’s doctoral training program as the candidate’s skills and credentials permit. Finally, the person in this position will be expected to demonstrate clear interest and commitment to all dimensions of diversity and to provide professional work that is infused with multicultural responsiveness.This position is responsible for:

    Providing direct clinical services such as individual, couples, and/or group psychotherapy, same day brief intervention interviews, and crisis intervention.Collaborating with Counseling Center staff and campus partners to advance the mission of the university.Providing outreach presentations (e.g., QPR suicide prevention training) to the university communityProviding training or other supports within the doctoral training program as appropriate.

Qualifications
What We Require:Education and credentials: Master’s degree in a mental health related field; licensed or license eligible as a health services provider in TennesseeExperience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Evidence of strong generalist clinical skills including effectiveness in a short term treatment model.Evidence of effectiveness in assessment and intervention with a range of clinical issues and complex diagnostic concerns.Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Demonstrated knowledge of developmental issues of college students and commitment to student success.Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues to achieve goals.Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated in oral and written communication.
What We Prefer:Credentials: Licensed for independent practice in Tennessee as LCSW, or LMFT or LPC.Experience:
    Experience providing mental health services in a college counseling center.Demonstrated interest and experience working affirmatively with students from diverse backgrounds; e.g., international students, racially diverse students, and/or students with underrepresented or marginalized identities, including gender and sexual identities, first gen students, and others.Specialized training and experience providing short-term, solution-focused interventions including single session interventions.Specialized training and experience with neurodiverse college students, eating disorders/body image, sexual trauma, or substance abuseSpecialized training and experience with group therapy.
