Medical Research Technician, CoinfectionsTNPRC - Immunology

SummaryThe Medical Research Technician at the Tulane National Primate Research Center (TNPRC) assists with research projects focused on examining the impact of malaria co-infection on SIV-associated intestinal mucosal dysfunction, as well as how concurrent HIV infection affects malaria infection in pregnancy and subsequent infant immune development. This position assists with daily operational functions of the laboratory, including inventory of supplies, reagents, and specimens and general laboratory and equipment maintenance. This position conducts and assists with experiments performed in Biosafety Level 2 laboratories.
Required Qualifications*Bachelor of Science Degree
OR
*High School Diploma (or Equivalent) with 6 years of research experience in molecular biology, immunology and/or other microbiology-related disciplines
*Bachelor's Degree in a biological sciences field with 1 year of research experience in molecular biology, immunology and/or other microbiology-related disciplines
*Experience with complex cellular immunology techniques, such as flow cytometry, ELISA/ELISPOT, tissue processing, cell, bacterial, vial and/or parasitic culture, sterile technique, DNA/RNA extractions and PCR
*Knowledge of BSL-2 and/or BSL-3 principals, compliance, and standard operating procedures, for both animal and laboratory space
*Non-human primate research experience
*Knowledge of institutional regulatory document submission
