The Mechanic reports to the Buildings and Grounds Manager. The basic function of the position is to maintain and repair all college vehicles and equipment as directed through assigned Service Desk work orders.

Utilize preventative maintenance on all college equipment and vehicles, effecting repairs as required to maximize utility of all college equipment.

Keep all fleet and maintenance vehicles clean and ready for use.

Insure all vehicles reserved in Adastra, or current scheduling system, for campus activities are cleaned and filled with gas daily.

Provide monthly status reports on all equipment. Provide mileage reports for vehicles used for entry into computerized data system.

Maintain and order repair-parts from purchasing following appropriate guidelines.

Maintain repair area and tool crib in a neat and organized manner.

Respond to request of Buildings and Grounds staff for equipment repair by ServiceDesk work order.

Maintain vehicle and equipment inventory and service records in the ServiceDesk system.

Assist with snow removal as needed.

Proficiency with welding equipment.

Possesses ability to operate all equipment.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Buildings and Grounds Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum two years experience in vehicle repair or two years technical school in vehicle maintenance or related fields required.

Valid Illinois driver's license required. CDL driver's license preferred.

Ability to work with minimal supervision required.

Ability to lift 80 pounds.
