Description

The Marketing and Communication Specialist is a key member of our brand communications team and will help shape the communication strategies that help build the brand and reputation of our company with employees, customers, and our communities. We're looking for an energetic, creative team member that thrives on delivering on our purpose to help people work smarter and live better.

This role helps champion and deliver exceptional and compelling internal communications and supports the development of external facing communications and content. The specialist works collaboratively with all members of the marketing team and other departments to support efforts to take the AVI-SPL brand to the next level.

Responsibilities

This role requires a highly motivated individual who is comfortable with changes in direction and environment. To be successful, the specialist will need to work well in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, with the ability to switch quickly and seamlessly from one project or initiative to another.

Internal Communications:

  • Manage creation of internal monthly newsletter, including sourcing articles and information, interviewing contributors, writing content, and designing the publication.
  • Partner with key stakeholders (e.g., leadership, Human Resources) to craft and design company messages, including presentations, emails, and internal campaigns.
  • Interface and collaborate with members of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to develop communications and promotional materials.
  • Assist in ongoing review and refresh of key brand employee touchpoints.
  • Maintain corporate landing page and marketing site on company intranet.
  • Assist in planning, development, and coordination of biannual town hall meetings, including coordinating meetings and video production, content development, and analyzing results.
  • Contribute to messaging themes and content development for internal sales events.

External Communications:
  • Partner with colleagues to develop strategies and communications that will help our companies grow, ensuring effective communications to various audiences to help us meet our business goals.
  • Partner with our creative teams to conceptualize and implement creative communication solutions. Ensure all work is informed by the business and brand strategy, and brand guidelines are followed across markets, channels, and touch points.
  • Write and/or edit corporate press releases, award submissions, newsletter articles, blog posts, and other communications as appropriate.
  • Articulate brand story in company collateral and key customer touchpoints.
  • Manage Glassdoor and Indeed company profiles, ensuring content is relevant, timely, and on brand.
  • Partner with content team to curate the social media calendar and be responsible for execution, scheduling posts to promote company and culture at a global level.
  • Assist in managing and monitoring social media as needed, including creating quarterly reports about our audience goals and results.
  • Lead internal project status meetings and ongoing project schedule updates.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in brand, marketing, communications roles.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, including the ability to translate complex ideas into easy-to-follow communications, conduct copy editing, and advocate for customer-centricity.
  • Demonstrate strong project management and prioritization skills with a keen sense of how to meet deadlines.
  • Social media experience, including metrics, paid media and listening to help build brand affinity,
  • Ability to effectively lead multiple projects and initiatives at one time.
  • Leadership skills and ability to partner, lead, and accomplish tasks in a cross-functional organization.
  • Passion for problem solving, building cross-functional alignment, and delivering great work.
  • Must possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface internally and externally in a manner that represents that values and brand promise of the company.
Qualifications

Initiative, ability to inspire, strong writing skills, knack for translating high technical topics into accessible and engaging brand content.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with executives, employees, and stakeholders
  • Comfortable working independently and as a member of a team focused on excellence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple competing priorities
  • Flexibility to handle quick deadlines and sudden changes
  • Ability to commit to brand-building decisions
  • Creativity both in problem-solving and producing materials
  • BA/BS in Marketing, Communications or Business
  • 3+ years of experience in Public Relations (PR), Communications, or Marketing on either the agency side or company side
