Your Role:

The Manufacturing Supervisor at MilliporeSigmawill supervise personnel and resources for the support of chemical manufacturing. The Supervisor will develop personnel knowledge and skills to improve performance, expand abilities and coordinate efforts to assist meeting department and company objectives.

  • Assist in the selection process of candidates in a manner consistent with company policies
  • Ensure that personnel are trained for the tasks and procedures assigned with access to proper equipment
  • Lead and motivate through positive reinforcement, encouragement, example and communication of company values
  • Quickly resolve personnel conflicts and problems as they arise
  • Ensure that skills and knowledge development occur to allow employees to maximize performance
  • Encourage development toward individual career objectives consistent with company needs. Will provide guidance, additional training and development opportunities
  • Ensure information is passed on to personnel in a timely fashion
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide timely feedback
  • Communicate information to other groups or individuals to ensure company objectives are met
  • Encourage collaboration between personnel and other groups
  • Organize the group's efforts and oversee production processes
  • Schedule tasks and processes to meet department and company objectives
  • Ensure resources are available when needed, which may include production of more difficult products and/or scale up of processes
  • Pro-actively review "Safety Procedures", MPR's, MMP's, MMF's Operating Procedures, etc. for inconsistencies and error and modify as appropriate in a timely manner
  • Identify, evaluate and implement process improvements and expand the group's abilities through personnel
  • Identify, evaluate, implement PDSA's, and support the company's 5S system
  • Create/maintain positive pro-active approach toward quality compliance and safety
  • Ensure acceptable housekeeping to meet company standard
  • Report incidents, assist in investigating causes and follow up with appropriate actions
  • Miscellaneous duties and tasks as assigned

This is a 2.2.3.2 schedule, working 6PM - 6:30AM including weekends.

Physical Attributes
  • Work near moving mechanical parts wearing appropriate protective gear, (hard hats, glasses/goggles, chemical resistant suits, gloves, safety shoes) and other personal protection equipment
  • Wear "PPE" to protect themselves from toxic or corrosive chemicals in the forms of liquids, solids, vapors or airborne particles
  • Lift/Push/Pull up to 50 pounds independently, may lift more poundage with assistance
  • Sit, stand, walk, reach above the shoulder, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch or crawl for long periods of time, and utilize speech, hearing and smell
  • Utilize close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and adjust focus

Who you are:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology or other scientific discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing production or R&D experience
  • 2+ years of experience working with quality systems and requirements (ISO standards, semiconductor practices, GMP, etc.)
  • 2+ years of experience working with safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance along with equipment maintenance

OR

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing production or R&D experience
  • 6+ years of experience working with quality systems and requirements (ISO standards, semiconductor practices, GMP, etc.)
  • 6+ years of experience working with safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance including equipment maintenance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • M.S. or PhD in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering and/or an MBA
  • 2+ years Supervisory experience with demonstrated experience leading, training and/or motivating personnel
  • Previous project management, planning and scheduling experience
  • Previous SAP experience
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate employee activities and handle any disciplinary issues that may arise
  • Ability to engage employees and work with management to meet targeted deadlines
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and across functional groups
  • Excellent problem-solving & analytical skills
  • Ability to analyze alternate information and make decisions based on needs, priorities, changing business conditions and budgetary constraints
  • High attention to detail to include quality control & making sure cleaning, upkeep and safety standards are maintained, or efficiencies are realized and self-starter
  • Excellent project management skills
