Position Overview:

Novelis is seeking an Enterprise Architect - Manufacturing & Supply Chain who will serve as a technology professional and expert, designing solutions that align with the strategic architecture and roadmap for manufacturing and supply chain products. This includes global process, application and solutions that include ERP, Production Planning, Manufacturing Execution, Materials Management and other shop floor systems. In support of the global and regional business relationship managers or key leaders, this role will architect solutions that connect business process information networks (i.e., ERP, APO, Logistics Systems) through the operations information network (i.e., MES, LIMS, WMS) to the automation network / level 2 systems (i.e., SCADA, Historian). Additionally, this role will support cross-functional teams by providing technical strategy, reference architectures, solution design, interfaces and data flows. The candidate should be familiar with supply chain, business models, key functions, processes, and manufacturing environments, as well as how they are impacted by digitization and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Support business partners to build service and tool portfolios to drive business growth in manufacturing and automation.
  • Create the technical strategy and IT reference architectures to guide the successful design, implementation and operations of IT solutions.
  • Partner and create the IT roadmap for investments to unlock value in the supply chain and manufacturing areas.
  • Research and identify emerging technologies or trends to create value for the supply chain and manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate how digitization and emerging technologies/techniques can create value.
  • Design and integration knowledge of key technology areas using knowledge of manufacturing business designs, business models, functions, processes, and job roles in manufacturing environments.
  • Understand the current and define the future architectures for the integration of MES solutions with ERP software and plant automation equipment.
  • Working with key stakeholders, business relationship managers and project managers, follow the IT methodology, identify time and resources needed to deliver the solution while identifying risks, issues and mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with other architects and subject matter experts to ensure the team has an optimal design.
  • Lead architecture reviews aligned with specific tollgates to seek approval.
  • Identify new standards and deviations when needed and present them to the Architecture Review Board after a thorough review of the existing portfolio of applications and services.
  • Ensure the solution meets the documented requirements of the business achieving the defined key success criteria or cost savings.
  • Review viability of new solutions to adhere to existing principles and reference architectures to ensure solutions perform well, are secure and optimize cost.
  • Create and implement all things (IT) architecture - tools, frameworks, standards, processes, implementation and governance.
  • Experience of common application and cloud development environments, with an understanding of infrastructure capabilities and constraints.
  • Identify application candidates for IT rationalization to reduce technical debt, security risk or operational obsolescence.
  • Investigate and understand industry trends and emerging technologies, and plan for adoption where appropriate.
  • Demonstrate leadership and influence key stakeholders to drive alignment and support.
  • Conceptualize and develop alternative solution approaches, articulating the benefits and trade-offs of each solution.
  • Utilize strategic thinking with the ability to design, implement, and execute ideas.
  • Use a results-oriented approach with an ability to drive change.
  • Design solutions and create associated work products.
  • Create detailed documents and present to steering committee or key stakeholders.
  • Develop a collaborative working style and build relationships across multiple functions and geographies.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Business, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant ERP, MES and/or shop floor automation experience integrating systems.
  • 3-5 years of enterprise architecture experience focused on supply chain and manufacturing solutions.
  • Contextual knowledge of the business and processes supporting Manufacturing Execution and experience coordinating or executing design changes to improve business operations and enhance overall solution quality.
  • Demonstrated use of architecture principles and practices when making decisions
  • In-depth knowledge of strategic, tactical and operational business requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Project management experience and/or certifications; scaled SAFe knowledge and/or certifications.
  • Knowledge of complex technology, methodology, and full life-cycle development in an agile environment.
