POSITION SUMMARY:The position responsible for identifying, developing, maintaining and supervising a staff skilled and knowledgeable in manufacturing technology for the purpose of minimizing product cost, and maximizing product manufacturing efficiency through the use of existing and new techniques. Will manage all aspects of manufacturing engineering, including the supervision of support staff, coordination of sales, engineering, and production team involvement. The effective Manufacturing Engineering Manager coordinates process improvements to increase profitability within the product lines of the Company, and provides effective engineering support services to employees and customers for existing Company products. Maximizes product quality and minimized product liability exposure by utilization of manufacturing technology.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes objectives, schedules and priorities in Manufacturing Engineering activities and reviews staff based on their accomplishments toward these directions.
  • Leads machine designers and engineers in the design and improvement of new and existing manufacturing processes to remain competitive in the concrete accessory industry
  • Leads continuous search of new materials, processes, and procedures to enhance DSC capabilities
  • Improves existing and develops new production processes and methods for the purpose of increasing output, efficiency and reducing costs. Accountable for the rate of production capability of all equipment and processes in manufacturing.
  • Assists manufacturing operations in solving technical tooling, quality, process and maintenance problems affecting the daily operations of manufacturing problems.
  • Completes periodic performance evaluations for his direct subordinates
  • Promotes Dayton policies by setting an example for all fellow workers to follow
  • Prepares budgets and schedules for the development of new product lines
  • Monitors progress of projects and reviews reports to see that development is progressing according to schedule and within budgetary guidelines
  • Works closely with management staff to establish long term goals and improvements
  • Manages Preventive Maintenance functions throughout the manufacturing facilities
  • Confers with management, product engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Interfaces with Safety, Health and Environmental manager to maintain policies and safety equipment
  • Overnight travel will be required as needed.
  • Completes special studies on an as required basis.
  • May perform other duties as requested or assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Ten plus years of manufacturing engineering related experience in industry
  • Three years' managerial experience; team leader or department manager.
  • At least three years in increasingly complex problem solving/troubleshooting hands-on position.
  • Fluency with skilled trades


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Master's degree in engineering or business administration preferred
  • Certified Manufacturing Engineer or equivalent
  • Excellent technical, conceptual and financial skills
  • Commitment to continuous education by attending appropriate seminars and classes
  • Lean manufacturing concepts
  • Project Management


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary team and to motivate team efforts to accomplish goals successfully
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and familiarity with CAD/CAM system used in process/product engineering (AutoCAD preferred)
  • Understanding of concrete accessories and forming customers and their requirements

  • Secondary languages an asset. (Chinese, Spanish, German, Russian)
