Manager, Operational Finance

Operational Finance is a new and critical function for VCA, sitting at the center of the broader finance team and the field operations organization. The primary purpose and function of the Manager, Operational Finance is to serve as a conduit between the Support Center and the Field Operations team, conducting recurring business reviews, responding to financial inquiries, driving data analytics to generate deeper insights and acting as a key conduit in the capital planning process. The Manager, Operational Finance maintains consistent partnerships with Field Operations, Medicine, Real Estate & Construction and P&O to support business strategy implementation and operational execution. The role focuses on significant issues critical to the organization's success including revenue, doctor and hospital staffing, performance management, pricing, and forecast design and development. The Manager, Operational Finance is also responsible for sharing practices and working closely with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to develop forecasts, targets, and practice-level insights.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the continuous monitoring of product performance components (price, volume mix and flow-through) and effectively communicate findings to key stakeholders and senior leadership in order to maintain the strength and growth of the practice

  • Develop, analyze and monitor KPIs pertaining to all aspects of hospital labor, including DVM and Para staffing and productivity

  • Partner with Real Estate team to manage network planning, including leases (renewals, relocations, closures) and capital projects

  • Conduct recurring KPI reviews with key operational stakeholders. Diagnose performance concerns/opportunities within assigned area to identify root cause, offering effective and holistic solutions

  • Lead Regional Planning and Forecasting setting in collaboration with Corporate FP&A team.

  • Support region and practice-level initiatives and functional projects to understand and shape financial impact to hospitals and practice

  • Assist in the development and execution of pricing principles, guidelines and methodologies to maximize competitive positioning and client perceived value

  • Drive ad hoc analysis to better understand performance and trends in the business

  • Some business travel is expected

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years related financial support experience required,

  • Exceptional quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills with high degree of intellectual curiosity

  • Experience in a multi-billion dollar revenue company, focused on retail, services or healthcare

  • Aptitude for balancing multiple complex priorities with strong organization and prioritization skills

  • Detail oriented; ability to generate output with a very high degree of quality

  • Ability to be a change agent and influence progress

  • Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to translate complex financial metrics to diverse audiences and stakeholders

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (emphasis on Excel)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA

  • Strategic / Operational Finance experience in multi-site healthcare or veterinary services

Additional Information

[Required for CA, NY, WA, CO only]: Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,480.00 - $183,720.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
