As Commodity Manager, you will be responsible for sourcing and management of the supply chain for direct and indirect materials and services for Frymaster. This includes identifying and establishing primary and secondary suppliers for components within the managed commodities to mitigate security of supply risk on critical components. This position is also responsible for ensuring materials and service suppliers meet total costs, quality, delivery, service, and technical support requirements of Frymaster.

Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager, this position is based in Shreveport, LA.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Manage commodity suppliers' relationship and performance as a representative of Frymaster.
  • Identify, manage, and track value add and cost out opportunities with new and current suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing and contracts to best meet Frymaster objectives.
  • Ownership of developing and executing the short-midterm sourcing strategy of managed commodities.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensures suppliers meet Frymaster's goals for quality, delivery, and cost. Takes the lead and follows through to resolve any issues in meeting these goals and ensures a permanent resolution is put into place.
  • Partners with manufacturing, engineering, and design to identify gaps, areas for improvement, or opportunities to apply new technology. Works with these same teams to drive sourcing decisions based on technical requirements, service, quality, price, and environmental footprint.
  • Develops, manages, and executes value add programs and RFQ/RFPs of new and existing suppliers.
  • Conducts formal supplier evaluations regularly using cross functional input to promote continuous improvement and identify negative trends. Ensures proactive decisions for make vs. buy for NPI and consolidation programs. This also includes that critical component suppliers are certified and formally evaluated.
  • Participates as core team member on NPI teams to manage sourcing activities including supplier selection, financial and operational risk assessments for potential suppliers, conducting onsite certification audits, negotiating development, testing and component costs, working with Engineering to develop supplier reliability targets and communicating the targets and application/environmental conditions to suppliers for application sign off, assuring agency and directive requirements are met, coordinating supplier design reviews and managing transition into production.
  • Performs related administrative tasks associated with managed commodities including price maintenance, contract management, ECO processing, compliance, etc.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7 years' supply chain experience in manufacturing environments in lieu of degree
  • Required: Experience with sourcing/procurement strategy in a manufacturing environment and implementing sourcing solutions focused on eliminating root causes.

Skills & Abilities:
  • Extensive experience in manufacturing supply chain, procurement, materials, and/or commodity management.
  • Excellent skills in negotiating, communications, project management, analysis and supplier strategy is required.
  • Contract negotiation and management expertise a plus.
  • Demonstrated problem solving capacity and ability to deal with frequent change, delay or unexpected events.
  • Prefer experience in industrial OEM, automotive, HVAC-R, or food service equipment industry.
  • Team involvement, customer service orientation, and management skills are a must.
  • Ability to function with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10 % of the time.
