Alliant Energy has an outstanding opportunity for a Manager, Category Management to join our Supply Chain Management leadership team in Madison, WI! In this role you will lead and supervise the Category Management group ensuring the teams' success in achieving the overall Supply Chain business objectives in support of the Company's Clean Energy Blueprint and mission to deliver energy solutions and exceptional service that our customers and communities count on - safely, efficiently, and responsibly. Provides leadership and oversight to key strategic category management initiatives.

Job Responsibilities
  • Category Management and Strategic Sourcing champion including supplier relationship management and supplier diversity.
  • Directs the Category Management function to work with business units, other functions, and their customers to understand demand and plan for supply accordingly.
  • Understands and pays attention to changing macro-economic, geo-political, supply/demand, and technology trends as potential influencers to commodity supply and cost.
  • Focus on Continuity of Supply - Risk Assessment, Mitigation Plans, and Disaster Recovery.
  • Develops ongoing planning to reflect changes in the supplier and industry landscape, matching the needs of the organization, and communicate this information on an ongoing basis.
  • Provides oversight to the development and implementation strategic plans to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of the supply chain function.
  • Works with business areas to develop relationships and advocates the use of the contracts developed within the responsible categories.
  • Manages large/complex supply chain projects related to categories with large spend.
  • Accountable for identification, monitoring and reporting on compliance with strategic sourcing from regional organizations and partner program compliance activities.
  • Accountable for ensuring appropriate category councils are in place and operating effectively.
  • Accountable for category management budget.
  • Ensures the development of the category management group's abilities required for effective execution of the department's responsibilities.
  • Strategically lead and empower the overall Category Management group.
  • Accountable for identification of continuous improvement opportunities affecting category management.
  • Performs all management duties including, but not limited to, budgeting, hiring, performance reviews, coordinating and scheduling work, salary recommendations, ensure employees report to work fit for duty, leadership, grievance resolution, coaching & counseling, models Alliant Energy's Core Values at all times.
  • 15-20% travel between Wisconsin and Iowa regions to manage team, internal and external business partners, and projects.

Required Qualifications:
  • 8 years of progressively responsible strategic sourcing and supply chain experience. Including experience solving complex supply chain problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • 3 years leadership experience. (Leadership experiences may include project management, providing work direction, leadership experience through temporary assignments, roles in the community or external organizations, or other demonstrated leadership experience.)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree with emphasis in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Engineering or related area.
  • Certification in Supply Chain Management or related.
  • Expert knowledge of specific categories, supply base & industry trends as well as commercial expertise for a broad range of category groups.
