POSITION SUMMARY:

Graymont is currently seeking an experienced procurement and supply chain professional to fill the role of Maintenance Support Specialist. The Maintenance Support Specialist primary role is to train and mentor Purchasing and Inventory Specialists at operating facilities throughout Graymont, and ensure compliance with Graymont systems and procedures. This position is part of a centralized support group focused on establishing and sustaining best practices in maintenance, procurement and inventory management across Graymont.

The incumbent will also work in partnership with other Graymont functional groups to ensure all plant maintenance related activities are well coordinated and executed. Extensive travel throughout North America is required. A high focus on global collaboration with peers in Asia-Pacific is also necessary to ensure consistency and standardization across all Graymont plant and office locations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful applicant is expected to take a hands-on approach and will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide leadership and participate actively to ensure the highest standards are achieved and maintained in terms of safety, environment, quality, and efficiency.
  • Lead the Graymont community of practice for Purchasing and Inventory Specialists, with a focus on sharing best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Continuously update and maintain Graymont's Purchasing and Inventory guidelines, standards and training materials.
  • Explore opportunities and manage projects associated with continuous improvement of Graymont tools, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure purchasing and inventory functions are well integrated with other maintenance and operations workstreams at Graymont facilities.
  • Work closely with Strategic Sourcing Group to maintain alignment and ensure compliance with supplier master agreements.
  • Ensure purchasing and inventory processes and procedures are as effective and practical as possible for end users.
  • Act as a technical resource and coach to plant personnel, peers and other functional departments throughout Graymont.
  • Manage technical support requests for assistance related to inventory and procurement issues.
  • Conduct compliance assessments on Graymont standard practices and procedures.
  • Compile and review key performance metrics and provide guidance for improvement to site specialists.
  • Substantial travel required - up to 30% (travel throughout the US and Canada).

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum of 5 years practical experience in procurement and inventory management.
  • Post-Secondary Education in a related technical field: a professional designation or certificate in supply chain management or procurement is considered an asset.
  • High degree of competence in mentoring and coaching and leading change.
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft programs. High degree of proficiency in the use of ERP systems (ex: JD Edwards or SAP).
  • Experience managing continuous improvement programs across multiple sites simultaneously is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Self-directed and highly motivated requiring minimal direct guidance.
  • Able to effectively build relationships and communicate with large groups (technical and non-technical), and to employees at all levels within the organization (front line to executive management).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
