SUMMARY

The Maintenance Mechanic performs repair and preventative maintenance work on equipment per the preventive maintenance schedule. Responsible for preventive maintenance, changeovers, and trouble shooting in a timely and efficient manner in order to meet operational goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Installs and rearranges mechanical equipment
  • Performs all work in mechanical skill area including fabrication, assembly, cutting, pipefitting and painting.
  • Performs basic preventive maintenance such as cleaning, adjustments and lubrication.
  • Able to start, stop and operate all equipment.
  • Set-up all punch dies and mechanical presses.
  • Fully understands and can work with drawings, schematics and sketches.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Dismantles, repairs and reassembles complex equipment.
  • Removes, dismantles, cleans and reassembles punch dies.
  • Repairs all machinery breakdowns.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on designated equipment as per PM schedule.
  • Performs repairs and upgrades on building facilities.
  • Works on capital projects as required.
  • Performs necessary machinery mechanical modifications and upgrades.
  • Cleans maintenance room and cage thoroughly every week.
  • Disassembles, troubleshoots and repairs mechanical equipment to component level, returning to good condition.
  • Ability to weld burn and cut
  • Sharpens tooling.
  • Collaborates with production and other departments to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Completes all paperwork as required.
  • Serves as a resource and support for the production employees.
SAFETY
  • Works safely and follows all safety rules and operational procedures.
  • Wears and maintains all required PPE.
  • Keeps assigned area clean and organized at all times.
  • Understands all safety devices and their operation. Notifies management if safety devices are malfunctioning or missing prior to operation.
  • Safely operates all devices per manufacturing specifications.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • 1-2 years of experience minimum in related industry.
  • The military equivalent will be recognized in lieu of education and/or experience.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    • Basic mathematical skills, addition, subtraction, multiplication and converting fractions into decimals.
    • Ability to read a tape measure. Understanding of basic measuring techniques: camber, bow, squareness.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Lifting-50%-Frequently long boxes (8ft-10ft) 40 to 50 pounds each
    • Standing-60% on concrete surface (rubber matting only in packing area)
    • Walking- 40% on concrete surface 80 ft. long walk ways back and forth.
    • Twisting- Occasionally 20% closing boxes; 10% at waist.
    • Pushing- Occasionally 20% during repacking.
    • Pulling- Occasionally 5% when rework is required.
    • Handling- Continuously 80%.
    • Speaking-15% to supervisor and coworkers.
    • Hearing-100%.
    • Seeing-100%.
    • Memory-Frequently to set-up machine and count.
    • Reasoning-Occasionally for troubleshooting.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Manufacturing facility -- exposed to heat and cold.
    • Personal Protective Equipment required at all times.
    • Noise controlled environment.
    • Activity level is high -- continuous overhead crane and forklift movement.

    Starting Pay

    $19-$29/hour plus shift differential
