Tom's of Maine is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic who has a proven background in mechanical and electrical repair. This individual will be responsible for maintaining a range of equipment that includes motors, pumps, PLC's, conveyors, trolleys, etc. in a FDA Regulated environment. This role requires working closely with other departments (Safety, Quality, Planning, Operations, etc.) to meet business objectives and productivity requirements. The Maintenance Mechanic will report to the Maintenance Team Leader and/or the Plant Engineer.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots and resolves equipment issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Support Operations to perform changeovers of equipment on an as needed basis.
  • Execution of assigned Preventative Maintenance activities, which may include documentation updating and creation.
  • Assist in controlling adequate inventory parts and supplies
  • Coordinates with upstream and downstream processes by working with others in planning, warehouse, receiving and vendor representatives on timing of effective changeovers
  • Maintains work area to required housekeeping standards. Performs housekeeping activities as per established protocol and conducts/participates in area housekeeping assessments per requirement
  • Understands and adheres to Environmental, Occupational, Health and Safety requirements
  • Understands and adheres to all Quality, Good Manufacturing Practices and Micro Cleaning & Sanitization Guidelines and standards
  • Support general building maintenance to ensure the factory building facility meets the federally GMP required standards, and safety guidelines required by OSHA.
  • Seeks and understands production scheduling and demands. Prioritizes maintenance activities that support and facilitates these schedules and demands.
  • Other job functions that may be assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Knowledge and experience working with mechanical, electrical and pneumatic controls
  • Knowledge and the ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices guidelines and standards
  • Ability to work well with others or independently
  • Knowledge and ability to follow standard safety procedures
  • Ability to work with the production team to accomplish common goals
  • Requires climbing, bending, kneeling and the ability to lift 50 pounds and the availability to remain on-call for nights and weekend coverage.
  • Knowledge of computers such Microsoft / Google Suite's, SAP, etc.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, bend to 90 degrees repeatedly

Preferred:

  • Minimum 3 years maintenance work experience in a manufacturing, production or operation environment
  • Experience working with food safety regulated environments (AIB, FDA, USDA, cGMP)
  • Technical certifications or degree
  • Certificate in machinery equipment preferred
