Olympic College is in search of skilled Maintenance Mechanic 1 who will work to support the college mission by performing semi-skilled and sub journey work in the maintenance, repair, remodeling, alteration and construction of Olympic College buildings, grounds, facilities, and equipment. The ideal candidate for this position is committed to providing quality service and maintaining a safe and inclusive campus environment. Your role as the Maintenance Mechanic 1 will be crucial in supporting the well-being and educational success of our diverse community.Essential Functions

Minor repairs

  • Utilizes hand and power tools performs minor repairs on building fixtures, walls, plumbing systems, heating systems, laundry and kitchen equipment, motors, and electrical appliances.
Painting
  • Utilizes sandpaper, burners, scrapers, sanding machines, dusters, power washers, power sanders and paint removers to prepare and clean surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion.
  • Utilizes hand and power tools makes minor repairs in plaster, sheetrock, metal, wood, and masonry surfaces by filling with putty, caulks, fiberglass, resin, etc.
  • Applies paint to equipment, exterior and interior surfaces of buildings, and other structures by means of brush, roller, or spray equipment.
  • Uses water or appropriate chemical solutions cleans brushes, containers, spray guns and other equipment.
Moves furniture and equipment.
  • Utilizes hand trucks, dollies and other moving devices moves furniture and equipment per Work Order instructions to facilitate office and room moves.
Ice and snow removal
  • Utilizes shovels and hand spreaders removes snow from walkways and applies ice melt to ensure safe campus walking surfaces.
Other duties
  • Attendance at training, meetings, and other departmental responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work
  • Current driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Golf cart maintenance experience.

Terms of EmploymentThis is a full-time classified position scheduled to work 40 hours a week, with a salary range of $51,384 - $59,616. Most classified positions will start their salary at Step A, when you have completed six months of probation, you will receive a 5 percent pay increase. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Associate (WPEA) Union.
