Slalom Florida is looking for a smart, collaborative person who brings a passion for data to join our data science team. The Machine Learning Engineer will work with vast quantities of information to deliver best-in-class workflows to our clients. Slalom applies machine learning and deep learning in a growing number of use cases for our clients, including image and speech recognition, customer insight and fraud prevention. The Machine Learning Engineer will lead our efforts at building and deploying machine learning at scale.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and conduct interactive whiteboarding sessions with key client participants to understand requirements and relate back to desired business outcomes.
  • Design and build ML frameworks and infrastructure necessary to move projects from inception to production.
  • Lead the automation and optimization of ML processes.
  • Execute short-term strategic consulting projects, assessments, map solutions to client business processes, and develop value proposition and business cases.
  • Manage work in such a way that the results are both of distinctive quality and useful to the client in terms of improving competitive position.
  • Develop project case studies, technology documentation and training.
  • Coach and mentor fellow data scientists and engineers in our growing NYC practice.

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in data science, ideally within a consulting environment.
  • 5+ years of experience with commercial applications of qualitative, predictive and prescriptive statistics.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and related tools such as SageMaker, AI Platform, CloudFormation and CodePipeline.
  • Experience with common data science toolkits, such as Python, PySpark, R, Weka, NumPy, perfection in Python is particularly desirable.
  • Experience with specialized ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, Kubeflow, Keras and PyTorch.
  • Experience with AWS and SPARK, including EMR, ML Pipeline, and MLlib.
  • Experience with deploying containers, such as Docker.
  • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig.
  • An understanding of distributed computing.
  • Highly self-motivated to deliver both independently and with strong team collaboration
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to creatively take on new challenges and work outside comfort zone.
  • Strong written and oral communications along with presentation and interpersonal skills.

Nice to have:

  • Machine Learning specialty certification, such as AWS ML.
  • Experience with various delivery methodologies and specifically Agile.
