Provide input into and execute the logistics strategy. Direct logistics Finance operations activities and staff in support of one or more logistical functions such as logistics operations, logistics planning and optimization, third-party logistics, transportation, private fleet operations, warehousing, and distribution. Direct the implementation of short-range business strategies and action plans to improve the profitability, regulatory compliance, safety, customer service, and product quality of the organization as it relates to logistics.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide input into domestic logistics strategy; support strategy execution and operations including third-party logistics (3PLs), outbound logistics, returns, design, capabilities, and infrastructure
  • Oversee central billing and operations to ensure payment of expenses, accuracy of the billing and perform periodic audits
  • Identify and implement transformational initiatives that deliver significant positive differentiators resulting in increased service level and performance with our customers
  • Lead engagement with internal stakeholders on improvement initiatives and leverage best practices across the division and company
  • Partner with logistics leadership, procurement, finance, and the business stakeholders in developing the logistics budget
  • Partner with Senior Management team to grow the overall business profitability by providing management with financial information that helps drive results and achievement of financial goals
  • Provide clear and insightful performance measurement and drive performance management across all aspects of the business in partnership with senior management
  • Ensure that forecasting for the business is accurate and constantly reviewed to reflect changing market dynamics. This may incorporate fuel, depreciation, R&M and capital
  • Provide leadership and collaborate with senior management on finance strategy
  • Develop key communication reports and processes for customers and manage key business metrics to influence continuous improvement and adherence to the process
  • Develop supplier compliance metrics to assess adherence to financial and service KPIs
  • Support discussions on logistics activities across the company
  • Identify and break down barriers, identifying new and more effective ways to accomplish tasks and goals
  • Champion talent development; focus on maximizing the ability, potential and contributions of self and others. Foster an environment where people can excel through developing, coaching and rewarding performance
  • Deliver results and set high goals for personal achievement and organizational success; measure success against the best internal and external benchmarks
  • Lead and direct the work of employees and perform management actions including hiring, performance management, talent development, and proper coaching and training

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, logistics, supply chain, or related curriculum (or equivalent combination of experience and education)
  • 10 or more years of progressively more responsible positions in finance, logistics, transportation, supply chain, or related experience coupled with 2+ years of people management experience
  • Budget experience
  • Experience leading projects and change management efforts
  • Certification and/or License – may be required during course of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of the principles, practices, and financial planning and analysis and general accounting and economics of distribution and logistics
  • Excellent financial modeling skills
  • Strong knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management
  • Solid business judgment and decision making skills
  • Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Able to identify problems, take appropriate steps to find solutions, and implement recommended solutions
  • Able to promote a team environment
  • Able to elicit cooperation from variety of sources, including upper management, plant locations, and others
  • Able to work collaboratively with employees in a variety of departments and build consensus around key initiatives
  • Able to lead a project from inception to completion and adhere to steps and timelines
  • Able to consider both strategic and practical implications for proposed course of action
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize work activities, and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
