Responsibilities

This position is a logistics customer service role that is fast paced, requires multi-tasking and problem solving and allows our teammates to be challenged every day. The main components of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Interact, communicate, establish relationships and serve as liaison between traders, suppliers, consumers and freight vendors along with all other DJJ and Nucor personnel.
  • Extensive data entry within internal applications as well as tracking of business on external websites for various customers.
  • Coordinate and schedule shipments and maintain close follow-up processes.
  • Obtain freight rates with truck lines, process freight invoices and coordinate the administration of contractual agreements.
  • Maintain truck vendor insurance compliance.
  • Coordinate handling, disposition, and reporting of rejected shipments.
  • Bill rail cars as well as monitor shipment movement with railroad websites to ensure delivery schedule accuracy.
  • Review and analyze various reports and initiate the handling required to maintain a current status.
  • Maintain appropriate records/files by accurately documenting all calls and activities when researching issues for assigned accounts.
  • Problem solve when issues arise and identify best practices to streamline procedures and processes.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.
  • Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years college business courses or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial customer service experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of logistics or transportation industry, including working knowledge of shipping/scheduling vocabulary and terms preferred.
  • Ability to be flexible to changing priorities with a proactive reaction to problems, problem-solving and unusual situations that may occur in dealing with customers.
  • Independent thinking skills and initiative, flexibility to shift changing priorities and ability to work autonomously with general supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work with deadlines and skills to appropriately resolve customer complaints/issues or unusual situations that may arise.
  • Communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Professional telephone skills with the ability to handle difficult telephone communications.
  • Proficient PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel with ability to quickly learn in-house systems.
  • Bi-lingual speaking skills in Spanish preferred.
