General Purpose:

Leads employees in performing a wide variety of production operations. Maintains workflow, ensures availability of proper materials, tools, fixtures, organizes work assignments and delegates those assignments. Monitors safety practices and housekeeping. Interacts with other departments in manufacturing to resolve challenges that interfere with the group's productivity. Provides training to new and continuous training to experienced operators. Demonstrating the ability to perform any of the various operational tasks and completes required paperwork. All technicians are expected to work on any assignments determined necessary by the Team Leader or management to ensure team success.

Opening are for 2nd and 3rd shift

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads all personnel and operations on the shift, initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between shifts and departments.
  • Ensures safe operations through adherence to Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and procedures.
  • Organizes work for smooth operations. Responsible for all processes, equipment, employees, safety and housekeeping of the area and meeting production quality and quantity standards on the shift.
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process, observing control points and equipment, monitoring personnel and resources and facilitating corrections to malfunctions within the operation.
  • Maintains process control by monitoring statistical information and reporting variations to Team Leader or Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Verifies correct identification, weights, and warehousing of products.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Supervises loading and unloading of trucks and verifies that paperwork is correctly signed.
  • Reports any process and equipment problems. Calls Maintenance Supervisor on evenings and weekends for assistance with problems.
  • Verifies that discharges from the plant are within limits. Reports any deviations.
  • Supervises all downtime and challenges, explains in detail what corrective actions were taken, notifies Team Leader or Operations Manager of any downtime over fifteen minutes immediately.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes, equipment, policies and procedures. Participate in task meetings; suggest changes in work tasks and use of equipment to increase efficiencies.
  • Works as the Acting Team Lead in their absence.
  • Follow all DFA GMP's and work in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality and sanitation requirements.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience
  • (HS/GED)
  • Requires three to five years experience as a senior level operator with the proven ability to lead others.
  • One year certificate from college or technical school; with three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in high-speed packaging or food and beverage manufacturing experience a plus.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Lead in a team environment with shared responsibilities, technical aptitude, and basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions in the English language.
  • Good math aptitude requires attention to details, and ability to handle multiple situations at one time.
  • Ability to employ, lead and direct continuous improvement concepts to move site's culture forward.
  • Clear communications, technical reading, computer skills (word, excel, charts), organized, relationship building, ability to present professional presentations.
  • Effective human relations skills, including good listening ability and the capability to convince others to establish or change precedents.

Licensing and Certification:
  • Better Processing School Certification
  • Must have documentation showing legal authority to work in the United States.
  • Valid state Driver's License.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Ability to lift 30-50 lbs and ability to stand for extended periods of time.
