Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must complete initial Ellis & Associates (E&A) International Lifeguard Training Program (ILTP) Shallow Lifeguard License and in-service training to satisfy the E&A ILTP Kings Dominion standards.
  • Excellent swimming skills required.
  • Previous Lifeguard experience preferred.
  • A genuine interest in making people feel welcome using your smile and positive nature
  • Keen to be a part of something you believe in, providing fun while having fun at work
  • Openness to learn, grow and develop skills
  • Commitment to your team by being on time and working scheduled shifts
  • Desire to be outdoors for extended periods in all weather conditions
Responsibilities

  • Test equipment before opening attractions to guests.
  • Perform a "first" ride on slides to ensure proper operation.
  • Maintain order of guests waiting to ride and check for and enforce all ride restrictions and recommendations.
  • Record Ride capacity.
  • Observe and assist with loading and unloading of guests safely in and out of attractions.
  • Communicate safety regulations with guests.
  • Inflate and deflate inner tubes as needed.
  • Assist in evacuation of guests from rides as needed.
  • Monitor ride continuously for malfunction or safety concerns and communicate to appropriate personnel.
  • Attend four hours of in-service training sessions each month to maintain lifeguard skills and license.
  • Properly use and store rescue equipment.
  • Monitor and ensure the safety of guests and co-workers.
  • Monitor and enforce waterpark and lifeguard rules.
  • Respond to and take appropriate action to resolve concerns and complaints from park guests.
  • Keep supervisor/manager informed of situations related to water park operation.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all work areas and attractions.
  • Operate efficiently within the parameters of an established Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
  • Must attend four hours of training sessions each month to enhance skills.
  • Performs all duties to satisfactorily meet ILTP and Kings Dominion standards.
  • Performs swimming rescues and spinal injury management satisfactorily to meet ILTP and Kings Dominion standards.
  • Performs CPR and First Aid satisfactorily to meet ILTP standards.
  • Must attend and satisfactorily complete all necessary training programs.
