Position Overview

The primary responsibility of this position is to serve as lead instructor for the clinical laboratory skills in pediatric physical therapy practice, PHYSTHR 8430.

Performance Objectives

  • Plan the schedule and learning activities for PHYYSTHR 8430 to help teach students pediatric clinical practice skills in physical therapy in consultation with the faculty director of the pediatric physical therapy curriculum (Dr. Jill Heathcock)
  • Attend class and lead all assistant instructors in the PHYSTHR 8430 to ensure a coordinated learning experience for students
  • Arrange for children/parent volunteers in the course as needed to provide realistic learning experiences
  • Cooperate with all instructors who teach PHYSTHR courses in pediatrics during summer term to ensure a coordinated curriculum under the leadership of the pediatric physical therapy curriculum (Dr. Jill Heathcock)
  • Conduct and supervise the grading of written work and clinical skills performance in the course.
  • Manage the Carmen Canvas site for this course

Term

  • This is a term position including approximately 12.5 hours per week of effort, with class on Wednesday and Thursday Mornings, and the remainder of the time associated with course prep and management.
  • The course begins June 17, 2024 and concludes July 31, 2024. This term begins June 1 to account for time required to prepare the course as lead instructor. Employment is limited to the months of June and July.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required: Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy

Required: Physical Therapist License in Ohio; 3-5 yrs experience in pediatric physical therapy practice; Experience teaching in a CAPTE-accredited PT program.

Desired: ABPTRFE Certified Specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy. Demonstrated ability to (a) create welcoming and inclusive environment for all learners, (b) promote diversity of thought, and (c) promote open-minded exploration
