Who We Are:

Ongoing threats to national security require timely intelligence data, including signal intelligence obtained through electronic surveillance. SwRI's Tactical Aerospace supports U.S. and friendly foreign governments through air and ground systems.

Objectives of this Role:

  • Provide engineering oversight for complex embedded systems designs.
  • Support hardware architecture design, development and test activities.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in analog circuit design and schematic design for embedded systems.
  • Supports digital circuit designs.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in embedded hardware design, development, and test.
  • Primary location: San Antonio, Tx.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
  • Leads hardware architectural designs to ensure all hardware/system requirements are met.
  • Serves as analog circuit SME for Integrated Product Team (IPT) reviews on designs.
  • Verifies all architectural requirements are satisfied.
  • Leads/mentors junior engineering staff in the development of hardware/analog designs that satisfy approved architecture for system.
  • Leads Junior Engineering staff in the development and testing of embedded avionics hardware on MIL-SPEC flight-worthy hardware.
  • Travels to customer sites to support final integration testing in customer System Integration Labs and/or Fielded System/Aircraft.
  • Travel, as required, to support client meetings, and travel to customer System Integration Labs (SILs) and Air Force Bases in support of flight test.
Requirements:
  • Requires a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering; MSEE/MSCE preferred.
  • 7 years: Embedded hardware design and test of analog and digital circuits. Schematic and PWB design.
  • Embedded circuit design and development skills targeting embedded circuit boards such as VPX/SOSA.
  • Leading hardware architecture design and development teams for embedded systems.
  • Leading embedded systems test planning and execution to ensure all program requirements are met.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.

Special Requirements:

Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
