Job Summary
Alliant Energy is currently recruiting for a Lead Energy Technician in Beloit, WI. We are looking for a leader with a passion for renewable energy.

In this role you will oversee and manage a team, as an hourly supervisor at various renewable energy sites. You and your team will be responsible for inspections and minor maintenance of solar installations and energy/battery storage units.

What you will do

  • Supervises and performs inspection and minor repairs on solar and energy/battery installations throughout the Alliant Energy (WPL) footprint.
  • Supports commissioning of new facilities coming online and the transition to Operations.
  • Performs inspections on solar panels, racking, inverters, wiring and controls.
  • Performs inspection of site facilities including but not limited to buildings, fencing, gates, roads, culverts and on-site storage containers.
  • The minor repairs include but are not limited to replacement of damaged solar panels, replacement of batteries, replacement of lighting equipment, fence repair, re-rocking of signs, minor inverter repair, racking repair, solar string fuse replacement, equipment touch-up painting and proper site signage.
  • Prepare and maintains records of equipment tests and maintenance, keeps operating records, prepares purchase authorizations and performs other administrative work as required.

Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma Required
  • Associate Degree Solar or Energy Storage Preferred
  • Certification Solar or Energy Storage Preferred

Preferred Experience

  • 2-4 years of related experience in solar or energy storage training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Supervisory experience preferred
Other Requirements
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Employees in this job classification are covered by the Residency Policy and will be required to live within 60 minutes of their headquarters.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of electricity, the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), National Electric Code (NEC), and Alliant Service Standards.
  • Basic knowledge of electric utility systems operation, maintenance and construction practices.
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Knowledge of solar and battery storage equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend Right-To-Know information.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 1910.269, NFPA 70E and 70B.
  • Excellent ability to solve problems.
  • Demonstrated computer, network, and technology proficiency.
  • Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to coordinate work and work with others.
  • Very comfortable delivering technical presentations.
  • Knowledge of company safety rules and practices.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.
  • Ability and desire to work well with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group.
  • Work long overtime hours to maintain continuity of service as emergencies may require.
